>>212221930>That being said the Perez-Jimenez-Rucka-Simone streak was (while far from flawless) consistent enough. I mean it's clarly the same character and recognizable as Wonder Woman.I agree with you, somewhat, but the main issue remained that Wonder Woman was... fine, in her own book. But everywhere else? She changed a lot, and sometimes completely. Be it in Justice League type of books, which they were plenty specially during the early 90s, or whenever she appeared in other characters' books, specially the Superman ones where she was almost a constant presence.
This is something, for example, that Greg Rucka used to complain a lot because other writers would often force events or character developments on him, like Wonder Woman killing Max Lord in a big cross-over event, and he'd be forced to deal with the fallout in her own comic, which was meant to tie-in to the big event.
The constant Superman cross-over during the triangle era when his various comics where in a constant state of cross-over due to some big story-line was particularly damaging because they would treat her character almost as a supporting character in his books, so they'd do shit like killing her mother in his books, like when World's at War happened, and that would have to be dealt in her book, and often times the characters from her book include her character would be portrayed in a completely OoC way in those stories.
