I heard that the script Ben Affleck turned in was too violent and creepy, being written almost like a horror movie. It also featured other Bat-Family characters that at the time WB was so sure about.

Batman watched The Mark of Zorro, actually. Excalibur is just the movie that was also in exhibition.

It's the whole reason why he started to brand. He went back to his origin branding his enemies like his childhood's hero. This is to show that he was already regressing.

Reminder that this bitch says:
>A man like that, words don't stop him. Do you know what stops him? A FIST"
After trying to speak with Batman, and getting sonic attacked and then shot at by 3 huge caliber auto-machine turrets, he used that advice to show off his strength and convince Batman that it was futile to fight him, to get him to submit and listen.
He slightly increased his strength, from shoving Batman 60 feet, and then throwing and then flying Batman through a fucking building, then he says:
>"If I wanted it, you'd be dead already"
Finally, it was actually words that got through to Batman, and not fists.

I fucking love BvS.

Gareth Evans was hired to direct a "prequel" of sorts focusing on Deathstroke killing Koreans or something, and Ben Affleck's movie would be in the same vein with chopped limbs and stuff, i guess.

That doesn't make it good, it was bad there too. These two have 0 romantic chemistry in everything outside of the DCAU, and even there it only worked because it had a mediocre adaptation of Diana.

But then again, the DCEU had a terrible adaptation of Diana so it lines up.

Warner Bros is incompetent under Zaslav. That's why it took so long to do Dunc 2 and 3, why Nu Game of Thrones has blacks, and why the Daffy and Porky movie was sold to an indie studio, and Amazon had to pick up the Batman animated show.

Rucka? He's stated in interviews that their relationship is purely platonic. The guy has been pushing for Diana to have a female love interest since the time he wrote this book, I doubt there was an sexual intent. Especially if you actually read the book, they do nothing but argue throughout.

Ben Affleck in ZSJL felt a lot like 70's Batman, when he would act very fatherly and wholesome with others, something that changed after the 80s reboot and writers started to write him as some sort of manipulative hard-ass that everyone needs to be rebel against. I fucking hate how every Batman adjacent comic was about how much of an asshole Batman was to Nightwing, or Batgirl, or whoever else.

I like it specially when people say it is "all style and no substance", ignoring the fact that style IS substance. It is a visual medium.

Man of Steel definitely had a blue tint to it but the color grading in BvS I thought was excellent. ZSJL had a grey palette but thatโ€™s because Snyder was biased and wanted it to be black and white due to it being a โ€œghost movieโ€ or something. The early trailers for JL back in 2016/2017 showed more color.

While thereโ€™s certainly a place for the tactical lean look that Bale and Pattison have itโ€™s a shame that we will probably never have this raw of a Batman ever again. The suit and combat were incredible and is the truest โ€œripped out of a comic bookโ€ thing in film history.

Bruce Wayne is hard to pull off since he has no personality outside of Being Batman. So unless you're "I'm acting!" like Bale or you're a literally who like Michael Keaton, you just end up being That Actor who dresses up as batman in some scenes. Ben Affleck was Ben Affleck and Batman in BvS and Justice League.

Here's one crazy.
Superman funeral in the third act was modelled after JFK funeral.
JFK presidency and death was said to be like the end of Camelot, by his wife Jackie Kennedy, with the quote coming from a King Arthur play JFK used to love.
BvS already had plenty of parallels to Excalibur and this one another one of them.
Superman dying was like JFK dying, and that marked the end of Camelot. Or its beginning.

I love MoS and like BvS and Justice League, but I really dislike the BvS ultimate cut. I don't think they really needed to add much aside from the 5 seconds of Superman rescuing survivors after the bombing. None of the other additions make sense. Like if it was Luthor's henchman that told people to kill criminals that Batman branded, and Batman didn't agree with it, why does he keep branding people?

And Steppenwolf which validated Lexโ€™s manic state, without it the โ€œheโ€™s comingโ€ dialogue to Batman at the end of the movie makes no sense. I donโ€™t know what else the UE added.

Funny.
I like MoS, and love BvS, and am sorta okay with ZSJL.
If anything i feel that the scenes they cut from the movie where essential and still to this day feel annoyed that we don't have a cut of the movie with them in it. For example there is a scene where after meeting Bruce for the first time and listening on the conversation between Bruce and Alfred, learning that Bruce is Batman, Clark does a bit of digging into Bruce and learn that his mother's name is Martha. This explain why he said Martha and not something else.
They cut out the scene and i feel that if they had left it there the whole Martha thing would have felt less awkward. The only thing we've left from this scene is this pic.

Also the ultimate edition scene with them tracing the mercenaries from Africa because they used super rare lexcorp bullets or something was kind of stupid.

I agree, this is something they should have put in the movie. If they didn't want to show Clark on a laptop they could have him go over old newspaper archives or visit a Wayne memorial or something.

Snyder really is like Hideo Kojima in that they keep adding details that are cool but don't necessarily help the story, the problem is mainstream movies need to be 2-3 hours while Kojima gets away with putting 40 hours of cutscenes in a game.

IMHO though he should try going back to making a self contained mid budget 2 hour film like 300 or Dawn of the Dead. No cinematic universe plans, just make one solid stylish movie, maybe based on a book, show everyone he's still a capable filmmaker. Wonder Woman 70% of the time in the comics is an inconsistent mess of a character. She changes from writer to writer. The only real consistent take on the character is original one from the golden age. From 50 onwards, and specially after the 80s reboot the character was pretty much widely different from writer to writer, and book to book, despite them all being made together and being the same canon.

Diana had a relatively consistent characterization from the 80's onward, at least until the New 52, it was her supporting cast/villains that fluctuated wildly. And either way, the show failed to adapt either Perez or Marston, which were her defining iterations at the time, so it doesn't matter.

No, she didn't.
Her personality changed widely from book to book and there was even worse editorial fuckery where she ended up being the rookie amazon heroine whereas fucking Wonder Girl/Troia, from Teen Titans, became a senior amazon heroine with 10 years of experience over Wonder Woman herself, because editors fucked the timeline in the various books after the reboot.
In her own comic, written by George Perez, she was one way. In the cross-overs with the various Superman books, that constantly affected her own comic, she had another personality and basically wrecked as a homewrecker trying to seduce and split Superman from Lois Lane while pushing him to be more godlike, and in the JL books and other places she was completely different. This is something that have always plagued her.
Take the New 52 book where in the JL book she dated Superman and was a violent and cunt-ish, and in her own book she dated Steve Trevor and was a protective and chill.

When did that happen? Yes, she had romantic feelings for him but that was consistent throughout Post-Crisis. In fact, the first instance of this was in Perez's run when she was having wet dreams of him. Diana was never portrayed as a homewrecker, it never went past her acting sad that he picked Lois.

And, yeah, the stuff with Donna was weird but it never really messed with Diana's characterization.

I don't even blame the directors for this shit.
How many times have we heard that they hired a director that came in full of passion and ideas just to learn that most of the big sets were already done in previs? Or that the movie was screen tested 10 fucking times in the period of a month and with every new screen test they had extensive cuts and reshoots?

I don't even blame Gunn for the mess with this new Superman movie because i've heard they've already butchered this movie in several ways after test screenings, changing its editor and music score, and cutting shit from it just because people mocked something from the trailer or whatever. I think in the most recent news it was said they cut out most of the jokes. Why have Gunn do this and cut down on his jokes and gags, when that is what the guy is best known for?

That's why most of the recent MCU movies ended up feeling so generic with everything in it tailor made to please some mythical demographic without truly pleasing anyone.

In several of the cross-overs. I'm not even really referencing the weird push for the romance between the two, but how much they'd butcher her characterization from her own comic. In her comic she was this down to earth gal that treated everyone the same, whereas in the cross-overs she would act confused that Superman would want to feel more connected to people and kept pushing him to see himself and act more like a deity.

The point is that he character changing widely from comic to comic.

True-ish
Mostly because it's an AA title they want to force into a AAA sales. Therefore they keep repairing her even if she's not broken.
That being said the Perez-Jimenez-Rucka-Simone streak was (while far from flawless) consistent enough. I mean it's clarly the same character and recognizable as Wonder Woman.
Post flashpoint shit isn't Wonder Woman (personality, supporting characters, sword & shield, killing, muh warrior, muh mythology all the times, daddy zeus, no clay origin...)

I agree with you, somewhat, but the main issue remained that Wonder Woman was... fine, in her own book. But everywhere else? She changed a lot, and sometimes completely. Be it in Justice League type of books, which they were plenty specially during the early 90s, or whenever she appeared in other characters' books, specially the Superman ones where she was almost a constant presence.
This is something, for example, that Greg Rucka used to complain a lot because other writers would often force events or character developments on him, like Wonder Woman killing Max Lord in a big cross-over event, and he'd be forced to deal with the fallout in her own comic, which was meant to tie-in to the big event.
The constant Superman cross-over during the triangle era when his various comics where in a constant state of cross-over due to some big story-line was particularly damaging because they would treat her character almost as a supporting character in his books, so they'd do shit like killing her mother in his books, like when World's at War happened, and that would have to be dealt in her book, and often times the characters from her book include her character would be portrayed in a completely OoC way in those stories.

Explain context. Just try. I am curious.
Because the "context" of that scene is to visually show something that is later brought up in the movie and serves as a wider metaphor for one of the movie themes.

Yeah, out of her comic is always used as support character and her role is always contrasting to toher characters.
If superman is calm, noble and does't kill, then she is written angsty and violent, for example
if she's with batman she can detect for shit even with lasso of truth because that's batman schtick

Also I hate how the Max Lord crap is used to debunk her no killing rule when all stuff about her were centered about how out of character that was for her and how she needed to face consequences for falling so low, to the point of being almost kicked out of the jla. Same shit for Kingdom Come. That's a what if wonder woman went to shit, not how she should be written and armed
Anyway it is what it is. I just with they would be subversive once in their (or my) life and make something where Wonder Woman is... actually Wonder Woman. Same is true for all the other cahracters, but I guess that ship sailed decades ago

>Same shit for Kingdom Come.
Oh, don't even get me started on that comic. I know it's a evergreen book beloved by a lot of people but the success of that book made many of that book characterizations bleed to the main canon, with Wonder Woman suffering the worst because of it. It's because of Kingdom Come becoming so popular that writers writing for DC began to believe that's how Wonder Woman is like, and started to writer her as that in many books. It's basically what led to the Max Lord debacle.
Not that she was the only character to suffer from it. Superman began to be portrayed as this wish-washy type of character that can't decide when and how to act whenever something happens involving other heroes, which led to shit like Identity Crisis, where Superman is depicted as covering all the fucked up the other heroes did to other villains and Batman.
Batman as well became this know-it-all prick that is always trying to lecture everyone on how to properly behave as some kind of moral arbiter, which is basically how he started to be portrayed as around the 2000s.

Kingdom Come was a toxic waste;

Peace on Earth is about Superman trying to tackle something lofty, like ending world hunger during Christmas, and failing badly because of how complex (and nasty) humans can be and the problem needs much more than just the aid of simple food.
And Kingdom Come is about Superman trying to police others while failing to police himself, and that creating awful unintended consequences that just make the original problem worse.

Those comics informed a lot of what happens in BvS, and i feel that the panels and pages used somewhat fitted the movie theme wise, even if the context in some of the scenes were different.

Either way you're complaining about something that happens in EVERY FUCKING MOVIE ADAPTATION as if it was a singular failing of Zack Snyder.

You're a moron.
What's the literal opposite? The scenes are for a montage showing Superman helping people while TV news and talking shows talk heads trying to misconstruct his noble actions in several ways, turning whatever he does into a problematic hot topic. That's very much in spirit with what happens in Peace on Earth.

The comic, specially when it comes to Superman character arc within it, is about Superman trying to help people, and failing, mostly because of human nature, and having to shoulder that failure and find reasons to continue on. Exactly like the comic.
Both the comic and the movie have a somber tone and deal with a somewhat heavy subject, but end in an optimistic way.

I never gave ashit about SS, disliked GoG, didn't watch 2 and 3, and if I'll ever see this Superman movie it will be mostly thanks to you
