This show is insufferable.
The drama boils down to: “I’m so weak and pathetic, I can’t handle basic social functions like small family gatherings, I’M GOING INSAANE.”
Queue foid resting hand on shoulder: “It’s okay, and you’re so brave for being here, I love you and appreciate you.”
Honest to God, what pathetic losers must the writers be to reflect their meek existence through this show.
I haven’t even mentioned the NIGGERS, like bossy bitch Cheadleface who literally stabs a guy in the ass and doesn’t even apologize. That’s another thing: take a shot every time Carmy apologizes for doing nothing wrong, you’ll poison your liver. Niggers don’t admit their wrongdoing in this show, ever, and it’s incredibly infuriating.
I got hooked by the premise of a world class alpha white dude chef running a dodgy sandwich shop and making it great, but that’s not the show. The show’s message is: “everyone is a wreck without therapy, and isn’t my life so hard I have to cook food. Kill whitey.”

This is why writers shouldn't go to therapy because anyone who does for a long enough period will inevitably have their sessions start to leach into their dialogue (both on and off the page).

That old black lady really pissed me off, she never apologized or admitted to sabotaging the young black girl, even as the black girl was doing everything she could to help the old lady adjusting to the changes coming to the restaurant.
If you can't own up to having been a insecure little bitch and apologize for your behavior, then you will always be a bitch and nothing else. So when later on the show tries to show how she's really a good person with pride and work ethic, it's too little too late without an apology and making restitution.

Which is pretty much all of modern drama, sadly. For some reason, writers have gotten it into their heads that every character have to be constantly expressing their emotions at every single opportunity. If they are angry, they will explode over the slightest thing, if they hold resentments they have to jump at every slight, if they are sad then any setback will make them tear up.
God do I miss stoicism being portrayed on screen.

I'd say it's basically the same. Nothing happens, you could roll season 3 and 4 together into a single season and it would still feel sparse.
What season-arc there is is just a more opaque, vaguely articulated version of the "oh gosh we need money to make the restaurant go!" plot from the beginning, but they completely fail to make it compelling or tense, they literally put a ticking clock in the kitchen to clumsily hammer-home what was going on but while the characters mention it and refer to it the show never conveys a sense that anyone really cares. In the finale it counts down to 0 and nobody really gives a shit.
They spend too much time doing montages of food to music to develop the characters properly, so instead they just airdrop in scenes that are the milestones of personal arcs without actually doing the legwork that goes between them, so nothing feels deserved. The likeable characters are vastly outnumbered by the unlikeable ones.

On the plus side my cute maternal wife Natalie "Sugar" Berzatto-Katinsky looks great after losing a lot of weight since season 3

That scene where he confronts Joel McHale really was the last drop for me. You knew from the start it would be an "I don't think about you at all" type scene, and it was, and somehow it was even more predictable than you could predict, and completely underwhelming. Of course it was made a lot worse by all of the UMs and UHHs and the repeating of words thing Jeremy Allen White does to show that he's a good actor (I-I-I I get anxious. Wh-wh-wh why are you like this).
Was this happening around the same time where he was arguing with Sydney? Made no fucking sense why she was upset. We were shown how Joel was irrationally abusive and supposed to believe Lip just shouting at her every now and then made him a tyrant? She was an ungrateful fuck from the beginning, but I guess she's black so it's ok.
The episode where they fight at the Christmas party was really good though. I watched it twice, really hit home. The one good part of the show come to think of it.

Scrappy English guy trying to make it big with his charm tard wrangling his "I AM GOING INSANE!" business partner and co-chef that was once the guy that mogged him in the kitchen day in day out almost effortlessly.

What even is the point of it for those that are introspective enough to realise what their issues are? I get therapy shilled to me now and again by friends but I know exactly what my issues and what their root causes from my childhood and teenage years are so... why bother? I view a better use of time being trying to improve your present circumstances in life. Like I have a type of body dysmorphia that rooted in a way that social media was irrelevant to its cause (instead it was family related shit) but doing talky talk with a therapist will change what exactly? Fuck all, but hitting the weights and doing bulk/cut cycles do help.

This. I can't take this show seriously because the main character acts like he's being forced into these stressful situations that cause him to freak out, yet he could always just let his uncle buy the place. It's hard to feel bad for him when he has an out, but chooses not to because he wants to turn a comfy sandwich shop into some pretentious restaurant.

the ad libbed dialogue was really bad.
its funny that they made the pastry chef a fag or was he always a fag? now theres a creepy love triangle with him and bandersnatch/ adam warlock tool.
the worst for me were the jamie lee curtis scenes, had to FF thru them.
i also cant stand that guy who plays Ritchie, ever since he ruined that punisher series... hes cringe.
and the dialogue between clairebear after 6 months post walk in cooler scene was so bad.

>This show is insufferable.
>The drama boils down to:...
your entire post conceptualizes the way I felt after watching the first episode.
I work in a restaurant and everyone was saying how great The Bear was. Even my mom asked me if I had seen it. I watched the first episode and I saw that it was a show for NPCs. The acting was bad, the story was bad; the only thing good about it was that it did write in some realistic details about the service industry, which I somewhat appreciated, but I already deal with that irl for hours a day and I don't want to watch a show about it. It's annoying that a show like this is raved about to such an extent. Retards don't know what good is and can't into art.
tl.dr: the show sucks, dropped it after episode 1

>The show’s message is: “everyone is a wreck without therapy
That is correct thoughbeit chudsenpai.

Working food service is literally a diagnostic indicator for mental illness when you can work.

Why would any sane mentally healthy person work 5x as hard with 10x as fast with 20x the yelling/cuntishness of retail for 1.2x more money?

In and 8 hour retail shift you can therapeutically stock shelves for 6 hours at your own pace with an air pod in listening to podcasts, spend an hour in the bathroom, and an hour on scheduled paid break. In that whole time, you'll maybe see a manger 3 or 4 times.
In an 8hour foodcuck shift you will be lucky to sit down let alone piss, and you will lucky to escape without a berating for something you had nothing to do with, manager always looking over your shoulder at every moment.

Not a single sane person would willingly foodcuck. Every one is batshit insane and a masochist.

Every time someone calls The Bear one of the most emotionally raw shows on television, I feel like I’m being gaslit by prestige TV discourse. Sure, it sounds like it’s about grief and passion and complicated family dynamics, but what it actually offers is an endless montage of stress, trauma responses, and characters who can’t finish a sentence without a panic attack. It's emotionally busy, but not emotionally honest. Everything is filtered through aestheticized anxiety—fast cuts, mumbling, rage-strokes of dialogue—like it's afraid to actually stop and feel something without shoving you into a claustrophobic kitchen first.

Compare that to almost any decent K-drama: My Mister, Because This Is My First Life, When the Camellia Blooms. These shows don’t posture or perform emotional depth—they just live in it. They believe that a quiet conversation on a bench can matter more than a long tracking shot of a man spiraling in an alleyway. Korean dramas aren’t ashamed of tears, or love, or reconciliation. They’re not trying to win Emmys by out-trauma-ing each other. They let their characters be wounded and sincere, sometimes even corny, because that's how real emotional stakes feel.

There's a DEI slop from the 2020 era of streaming thing where most of the drama are characters acting extremely selfish to the point of causing harm to others and themselves out of pride and emotional immaturity, but the narrative paints this as justified and appropriate because it was their truth. Once they speak their truth and are "heard" then the drama is resolved.
It's got to be that social-emotional learning bullshit. There's some social engineering reason behind this, something about programming kids to fail to think of society in terms of abstract rules.

That friend bitch in that show is so fucking hot. I had a high school crush from Korea that looked like her same phenotype but this actress is five times as hot like an ideal of the high school crush.

The lead attorney of their team with the glass dude is a fucking boss as model IRL but looks like a nerd in the show, but his in show estranged wife is fucking hot.

Like Squid Game, only the first season is any good.
The first season is an angry, frenetic, quick watch that focuses on how stressful the fast food service industry can be that has some degree of relatability to people who have worked in it.
Season 2 onward it becomes about fine dining and pretentious convos about jack shit set to contemplative indie music that is just incredibly monotone and a NyQuil viewing experience. And this shit got renewed for a fifth season. Yawn.

Theres a whole generation of line cooks who got duped into going to culinary school and getting inculcated into The Industry line of thinking. Where cooking has to be this elevated but also super humble art and you better hope you have an exiting heritage to fetishize. They build all of these visions expectations, take solace in the systems of advancement and camaraderie. But they orbit around the black hole that is the fact that their art is turning into feces in a few hours. That cooking for others is never appreciated in the inflated ways they think they should aspire to. That restaurants are not about making art, but money. That artists are businessmen and that the best businessmen can make themselves out to be idiot savants who fold their egg omlet over 9000 times. Young creative types are introduced to the mule's circle of real kitchen work they need media like this to continue their desperately held hope of being in the "before" part of their chef success story.

It saddens me because food is such a rich and beautiful thing to study and practice. It deserves enshrining in a certain way. It can evoke so much so easily. But the effete touch of marketing and advertisement corrupts all such things. The cultured punk still buys things at a very acceptable rate
