having the bond character be largely faceless and only show up for a few seconds and instead focus on the villain and having him be really likable is fucking great

imo as a whole the episode is kinda one note and the subplots of the rest of the family are kinda lame
definitely a good episode but i find it overrated

I'm watching it from the start and coincidentally just watched cape feare. It really changed tone during the fourth season, I'm not saying it is worse but they make gags just for making it.There's an episode where homer forgets bart after soccer practice and it rains, it pans to a nun who gets swept up by the wind, carried to a mountain and there's a fucking mushroom cloud explosion, it really is very different from the earlier episodes, even if they had outlandish stuff, they didn't cut to gags like this. Is there any underlying explanation for this?

I've tried to start Surreal Simpsons threads multiple times but that schizo guy comes in saying I'm the "Baskin RobertsGOD" every time and it goes nowhere. In a nutshell, I'd say they had more creative freedom. Maybe even psychedelic drugs were in the equation.
