Season 3 is bad because in order to ante up the stakes from the last season, the writers decide to do a complete 180 on characterization.
They also incentivized on very poor writing decisions, such as birthing in a game that would've taken 40+ hrs irl and of course using the baby as a crutch and a plot device in an effort to drive forward the story. In addition to dropping everyone's IQ by 20+ points because no one can fathom seeing a baby born die unless it was A Serbian Film all over again.
The innate problem with S3 is that it's completely unnecessary. The self-aggrandizing of the cast, coupled with very poor direction, is what's cemented people's impressions of this show now. It had been nothing but a dead horse that was beaten for the last 4 years almost and its gimmick has worn people off.
By this point forward, the writing team had been rushing this season and the last in an effort to promote future seasons taking place in the US so it unequivocally lost its charm from what made it special in the first place and has turned itself over into the new MCU.
People aren't going to waste their time anymore from any series that intends to self-aggrandize itself after it's made itself par for the course. This is no longer 2003 or 2014 anymore where you can expect a series to get good or better after a bad season like with Lost, The Sopranos, or Breaking Bad.
But in short, NEVER put babies at the center of the story. Everyone loses their heads by doing so.
