Jurassic Park was ok. Best of it's franchise, but that's not saying that much.
Goldblum should have died halfway through. He doesn't play a major part in the 2nd half, and there was no great shock at the death of the blood sucking lawyer, who might as well been wearing a red shirt on the Enterprise from the start. Newman's death was ok but also predictable. Sam Jackson was fine, I guess, but a bit of a waste of talent considering how Tarantino used him like 6 months later. Only the Rhodesian guy's death could be considered kino or even close to it.
There was no tension in scenes involving the kids because you knew the kids weren't going to get eaten. It could have been saved by having Sam Neill die, perhaps saving the kids, thus completing his arc from anti-natal to being a father figure, but they kept him alive for sequels, in which he appears in like one and a bit.
I won't go full contrarian; it's not a bad movie. But it's not perfect

The movie I think originally presumed you were familiar with the TV series(which was basically the movies short-form and on a budget.)
It was such a runaway hit with everyone though that the background turned out not to matter.

Nah, I hated that. Though I admit that's because my hatred for jack black hinges greatly on how related to music the shit he's doing is(predictably, I would set everything that is tenacious D on fire if I could.) I was unable to find that movie anything but obnoxious.
Looking over IMDB, the only movies he's been in that I've seen and haven't disliked are Demolition Man(I don't even remember seeing him in that, but it says he was,) Mars Attacks!, Crossworlds, and The Cable Guy. And I don't expect anyone other than me to actually like Crossworlds.
Even as much as I loved Mr. Show, I think he was a low point in it.

I bet there's a few that just begin with the letter D. And I certainly share your enthusiasm about Dumb and Dumber but I'd probably have to stop at a 9. I could be wrong though. I would be putting it up against Deer Hunter and Dawn of the Dead (1978) for starters.

oh, please. ford ferrarri is the most boring movie in the world.
I wish Christian Bale would stop making all these shitty pointless movies, and just make American Psycho 2+3+4+5 already.
Matt Damon aswell, stop making all these shitty movies, just make more Talented Mr Ripley, bring back Jude Law too, then bring back Hoffman, use Jesse Plemons to fill in his position (because he croaked)
