It's Always Sunny had already dipped massively in quality before they became friends in 2020. By 2015 half the episodes of each season were meh and then by around 2018 there were more bad episodes each season than good. The show peaked around season 4/5. 6-9 were still good but we're showing signs of decline. 10 is where it all falls apart.
Funny enough this coincides with Charlie's opinion that they should have let the show remain in 4:3 with shitty cameras. 4 was the last 4:3 season (although 5 was shot with the same shitty camera, just in 16:9. They made the full HD switch with season 6)

Don't they all share ownership of the series due to a contract that paid them shit to start with but became lucrative past a certain point because they hold virtually all the rights? Yeah, but to be fair, Rob & Charlie & Glenn (& Hornsby who did a lot of the writing and showrunning) have all said the series had pretty much run its course creatively and they didn’t have much more to do with the characters, comedy or idea … but FX basically threw a shit ton of money and syndication backend at them (for a show with a low budget to begin with) and told them to do whatever they wanted, how much they wanted, whenever they wanted, with no studio interference. So yeah they handed it over to a writers room, did some creative shit they wanted to do, intentionally fucked around with the characters and audience expectation. And they all branched out to do projects they really wanted to do instead of working on the show full time. It should have ended, but you faggots kept watching. Maybe hate watching, but it still bring in cash.
