Absolute kino and historically very accurate.
Georg Elser, a German carpenter, opposed the Nazi regime and acted alone to assassinate Hitler. He spent weeks secretly working at the Bürgerbräukeller in Munich, where Hitler gave a yearly speech on November 8 to mark the 1923 Beer Hall Putsch.
Elser hid inside the hall for 30 consecutive nights and hollowed out a column behind the speaker’s podium. He built and planted a time bomb inside the column, timed to explode during Hitler’s speech.
On November 8, 1939, the bomb detonated as planned, killing eight people and injuring dozens. However, Hitler had unexpectedly cut his speech short and left 13 minutes before the explosion, narrowly escaping death.
Elser was arrested the same night while trying to flee to Switzerland. He confessed under torture but insisted he acted alone. He was imprisoned for years and executed in Dachau concentration camp in April 1945.
