I liked M3gan 2.0. I liked it more than the first one, the longer any horror franchise goes the more the main character becomes comedic, Freddy, Jason, Chucky, the only way to get around that is to have a main character that either doesn't have a personality beyond stabbing people (Michael Myers) or for it to be different killers behind the knife (Scream). Switching M3gan into an action/horror genre makes sense for the longevity of the character.

M3gan's budget was around 12 million, 2.0's budget is between 15-25 million, so they didn't go FULL retard by throwing a stupid amount of money at the film, it's still a really modest budget and it still looks great, hell the CGI looked better than what Marvel has been doing since Endgame. Plus the original film's box office has already paid for both films production twice over.
I think what they may not have thought about in regards to the difference in box office between the two is how many people went to see the original and left disappointed. The general consensus was that it was a solid film but painfully bloodless, so they released the "unrated" version on home media. So it might be a case of the first M3gan just didn't create a large enough fan base.
That said I loved the new movie and I really hope the franchise continues. Action or horror, sprinkle the comedy in there and I'll keep going at least until the franchise hits Terminator Genysis levels of bad.

This is the worst outcome from the trailer, there's no real girl boss angle. M3gan herself is snarky and sarcastic, but the film itself is basically about her trying to convince Gemma that she can be trusted because she genuinely cares about Cady, while also losing her shit at Gemma for preventing M3gan from being able to actually operate at full capacity to protect Cady, while Gemma herself is doubting her own abilities to connect with Cady as a parent.

Yeah, mostly with Amelia. She does some J-Horror type movement in her early scenes, after that she goes mainly T-1000. Sakhno does a great job in her physicality by making Amelia feel like a constant threat whenever she is in the same room as a character.
