I don't know why they can't just take the mid-century adventuring idea in a new direction. I LOVE the idea of doing something in that genre that isn't actually Indiana Jones. It would free up the film makers to make choices that wouldn't be shackled by what already was and it wouldn't be constantly compared to the original.
