Oh sweet, another Hulk variation!
That worked really well for Captain America. Can we make sure to include even more references to the solo Hulk film from 20 years ago? And obviously, Ruffalo can not be anywhere near this film.

All Tom Holland spiderman movies suck astronomical levels of balls
He has an inability to channel any of the pathos or warranted levity that made the Toby Maguire, and even the Garfield flicks remotely compelling. All of his plots and stakes are buoyed by his tech-daddy Tony acting as an unassailable cosmic mentor. All the issues and circumstances relate hyper-specifically to niche hyper-contemporary phenomena like social media or serve only to push forward the overarching nonsense of the rudderless MCU plot.
And frankly, I don't know anyone in real life who can actually stomach the burger-king-kids-club leftist wet-dream multicultural utopia that comprises his comically diverse school of geniuses beyond those who are so deep in the slop they can no longer distinguish it from the very air they breathe

Big angry hulk means a huge animated green beast jumping around doing crazy shit like clambering across skyscrapers and throwing tanks into helicopters
Or in other words, it means a lot of CGI
Cucked Ruffalo Hulk just means Hulk being big and imposing but mostly he's just a enlarged humanoid figure doing ironically civilised things as a subversive joke, something they don't have to expend an awful lot of resources on

The approach they took in the Sony movies was all wrong. Even the animated series from the 90s did him better. The movies were too goofy to the point where Hardy acknowledged they could've went a different route.

I'd say some aspects were decent, such as the look of the character, but they got 2 pretty crucial things wrong.
1. Introducing Venom without Peter Parker, which is a major component in why Brock became Venom in the first place.
2. Not conveying Brock's complexity as a character. It's true that he went the anti-hero route at one point, but he was always messed up in the head and his own unique morality system that puts him somewhere between the two extremes of Spider-Man and Carnage, being neither fully evil nor fully good.

sorry you wrote a bad script

they already did Sinister 6 (okay "five") in the other movie, and it WAS all the big ones Doc Oc, Green Goblin, Sandman, Electro, and Lizard (they were going to add a Rhino but it would have been a stretch in an already packed movie)

they already "killed" Gwen Stacy in the other Spider Man movie, AND they semi-redeemed that Spider-Man by having him save new MJ. you can't double-up on a tragedy they already used (kill Gwen again?), it barely worked when they killed Aunt May and gave her the power=responsibility line (that only worked because that line was so epic)

MCU Spider-Man already GOT the "killing is bad" lesson from OG Toby Spider-Man when he saved Goblin. you can't walk that back, that's lame.

I do like the idea of bringing back Vulture, he was a good low-power foil for Spidey. The Kraven movie wasn't terrible, he could be good, too.

Sony "Harry Potter"'d Venom by making him un-usable by the MCU, it's almost spiteful. it would take a miracle of writing to move that version of Venom over and nobody would accept a new version

hope you enjoyed my blog post

>>Tom Holland can never be allowed to carry his own movie
>What a waste
I still think they should've cast the other guy who was the runner up in the role right next to Holland for it. He looks older and has aged a bit better, actually looks closer to what a Peter Parker type would look like irl, and could play a convincing college/young adult era Peter better because of these reasons. Tom ages horribly and still looks like as much of a baby as he did back in Civil War, which is going to suck for future Spider-Man stories that are supposed to occur when he's already an adult.

Yeah he was the last contender with Holland for the role back in 2015, and I agree it should've went to Rowe. Disney likely would've dialed back a bit on the Iron Boy Jr. shit if they had cast a more mature looking actor. Which reminds me of who they should've cast as MJ too.

I agree, but I don't think that's because of Holland it's because of the script. It's possible they tailored it more to that because of Holland I guess but I kind of doubt it. Holland fits their version of Spider-Man better, as much as I loathe their version.

They just didn't know how to introduce him since they got him so late so they thought making him Iron Man's sidekick would work.

I personally really like what theyโ€™ve done with the new spiderman movies, itโ€™s fresh, new and different. They already did more conventional and traditional spiderman stories and the last time (amazing spiderman) it wasnโ€™t successful, so Marvel rightfully tried something different and I think they were right. Itโ€™s interesting having other characters involved, it adds more to the plot and makes spiderman a less solitary character. But you have to take in mind that the MCU was a pretty novel and new concept at the time, so they probably particularly thought that including him in a shared universe of characters was the new and exciting thing to do at the time, same with the multiverse which we have seen is a success.

The MCU did some things right, but Spider-Man wasn't really one of them. The good parts of those movies worked in spite of some decisions like the castings, not because of them. No Way Home's appeal for example has very little to do with the MCU Spider-Man, and more to do with the returning characters, the "shit" Garfield Spider-Man included, who himself outshines Holland in acting.

i'm fine with him being solitary but personally I can't say I like the new direction because it feels too easy. he has too many advantages with Stark tech, like at the end of the 2nd movie he gets places on a private jet that Happy has for him. When a major conceit of the character is that he's a struggling kid having to deal with real issues and pay his rent it really clashes. like if they gave Batman superpowers. plus, I think the way they gave Ben's line to Aunt May really didn't work in the context. The entire reason why Ben's death is compelling is because it was Spider-Man's fault he died, he failed to use his power responsibly and it had consequences. Aunt May's death isn't a result of him doing that, given that the movie seems to think him trying to save the villains is the responsible thing. it's just a tragic thing he couldn't have avoided, and there's nothing for him to learn from it so giving her the line makes no sense.

Not really, it goes in waves. There was a good long while there when people thought the symbiotes were the dumbest thing in the Spidey universe and the goblins were popular, and then doc oc, and then someone else, etc. The comics have also changed the symbiotes' origin several times now so nu-Venom has nothing to do with 90s Venom.

For example, TASM 2, for as much shit as it gets, did the human aspects right, and it had believable drama, like Gwen dying.
Would you care if that Indian kid playing Flash Thompson died in the movie? It's unlikely, and if you did, someone would yell out "orange slices!" 2 seconds later and the tension would be gone anyway.

Hulk has a couple of different forms/personalities that have manifested over the years.
Professor Hulk, Grey Hulk, Savage, immortal, etc etc etc.
Worldbreaker Hulk was one of his most powerful, when the illuminati realized he was too much of a liability they shot him off into deep space where he has the whole planet hulk story line. His ship explodes and kills his wife, he thinks it was the illuminati responsible for it so he comes back to earth to get revenge and he pretty much tears through everyone until plot contrivance happens and he turns back into bruce and realizes what he has done.

Can someone fill me in as to how this makes sense or will work? I know that all Marvel movies all happen in the same universe, Iโ€™m aware of the Avengers so like Spider-Man knows iron man and the hulk etc, I havenโ€™t seen any of these movies but I know theyโ€™re over the top onions filled quipfests with low stakes and no actual moments of sincerity.
I have started watching the Punisher though, still on first season, and it seems like the most down to earth relatively grounded marvel story there is. Heโ€™s just a dude with no powers, I donโ€™t think theyโ€™ve ever mentioned other heroes at all, and all the enemies are people. How can these two characters possibly interact and have it make sense? Itโ€™s such a tonal disparity too, punisher kills people brutally, spidey doesnโ€™tโ€ฆ how can punisher even fight the hulk?

On some level I appreciate the wacky bullshit Marvel is pulling for actual comic fans. We know this retarded comic shit and love it, in fact all Marvel threads should be purged to /co/ until they reboot the whole thing. But Disney spending hundreds of millions of dollars adapting comics that sold 8 copies is fucking great and fascinating.

I think Peter will get the symbiote they teased at the end of the last movie and start giving into his rage and Punisher will try to push him in and convince him to kill. if rumours are true and Daredevil is also in this movie, he will probably be the one trying to pull Peter in the opposite direction.

the fight with the Hulk will most likely be a rehash of BNW where they don't really fight him but just hold him off long enough to talk sense into him. not sure why they're doing another movie with a Hulk as the climatic fight so soon but whatever.

People are griping about no Black Cat but let's be honest here - it'll be yet another black actress, because Holland Spidey likes his chocolate, and her character would be a loud annoying zoomer caricature instead of the sultry confident master thief she is in the comics. And even all of this would be bearable if the girl is cute enough to get away with it, but don't hold your breath

Zoe Kravitz was not a good Catwoman in the Batman movie but at least she somewhat matched the tone of the movie. I have zero expectations for Feige and the retarded Sony execs

What doesn't make sense about this? Sony wants to ensure that their movie does well and that it fits the overall MCU plot and getting an already established MCU character does that.
>homecoming: Stark, Happy, Pepper
>far from home: Happy, Fury, Maria Hill, stark (flashback cameo)
>no way home: strange, happy, murdock (cameo), wong (cameo)
>brand new day: punisher, hulk, who knows who else
Do you seriously think sony sat in that negotiation room in 2015 when the MCU was at it's peak and DIDN'T ask for their big characters to be in spidey's movies? That was their biggest priority after the failures of the "amazing" movies. This doesn't mean tom holland isn't the main character and doesn't have his own fight scenes. It just means they want some other big name to slap on the poster and in the trailer to make sure people show up.

Im not sure what their goal is anymore, but it really seemed like they were building him up to be exactly that. Each movie he was slowly moving up the ranks to be the next Ironman, at least in terms of being the face of the MCU. And with that, I imagine his physical strength, his intellect, his wisdom, and control of his abilities would all peak, and he would be seen as the best of both Tony AND Cap. But now they made him an anonymous background character and hoisted Falcon to the top, so who knows wtf their plan is anymore. I'm gay btw

Like all bullshit comic match-ups it depends on the writer and the story. Spidey could potentially use his speed and webs to subdue the hulk long enough to think of a plan that would incapacitate him or even transform him back to Banner

Zero. The Hulk is retard powerful. I suspect it'll be like the Thunderbolts where you had a bunch of super soldiers fighting a ridiculously overpowered Sentry. You have a bunch of Captain America and Black Widow ripoffs fighting him? Sentry is in the same league as Thor and Hulk, if not higher.

So now you're going to take Spider-Man...MCU Spider-Man, and have him fight one of the top strongest characters not only in the MCU, but in the comics as well? He's a raging flesh-tank of destruction. The only thing Spider-Man will be able to do is avoid the Hulk and try to talk him back into being Nerd Hulk or Bruce Banner again, or get some sort of cure or something. An actual straight up fight is suicide, and you can throw all kinds of heroes into it and it wouldn't make a difference.

The simple truth is that Spider-man post Raimi didn't work at all. It's like nothing interesting happened to him along all these years, but Tom Holland is already 30. It's over whatever the box office says.
Marvel failed really big even with this character and the only opportunity left is Miles Morales, about which nobody cares anymore.

The problem is universal owns the rights to the hulk, so marvel can use him in other things like the avengers, or thor, but they can't make a Hulk movie without paying out the nose.
It is a shame that they did such a half ass planet hulk story as a b plot in thor since its legitimately one of the better marvel books that would adapt itself well, I mean they did an animated movie that worked just fine.
I don't even dislike Ragnarok, but it has a major problem where it kind of wastes two of the better stories from hulk and thor by mashing them together and making it a doofy comedy.

Yeah so movies don't work that way buddy. That whole thing could be explained in a 10 second scene

Hulk is going to have a hard time landing a hit, and spiderman can famously take a beating, and he can out think the hulk to he'd lure him someplace to limit the collateral damage, evade and bother him until he figures out why the hulk's panties are in a bunch, or the everloving blue eyed thing shows up and they have a blast punching the shit out of one of the few people they can really lay into without worrying about turning them into paste.

The MCU has smart Hulk now and MCU Spider-Man is still a dumb teenager who was outsmarted in his last two movies. The only thing he knows how to do is clicking the start putting on the kit Tony Stark left for him.

The last movie was him teaming up with two other spidermen who were older and more experienced who gave him some direction, and then the cosmic mindwipe makes him a literal who with no more stark shits.
And honestly I fucking hate teenage spiderman stories. Everyone is obsessed with peter in higschool despite the fact that marvel aged him out of that decades ago because people were tried of it and wanted to see him move on. SO then he went to NYU for a while, and then for a long time he was just a guy with a job and a hit redhead GF who knew his secret identity and had made peace with it for the most part. They finally get married, and then that gets mindwiped from existence to save his elderly aunt from dying of natural causes and marvel has stubbornly refused to let them get back together for real, except in the new ultimate spiderman book which is in another reality where peter gets his powers after he's already married with kids, and its their best selling book in ages.

I forget his name but the editor in chief who took over at the time always had a hate boner for MJ. Staff and readers from that time all knew before he even got the job officially that when got put in that seat that he was going to remove her. He doesn't like that aspect of Peter's life, the stable relationship stuff.

Stuff like that happens in the comics all the time. It shouldn't but it does
