Why did they ruin the Dorne plot?

Wasn't s5 the point where the show outpaced the books

This was around the time they both got Star Wars eyes and were trying to be the next big directing team for those movies, only to see the Last Jedi like everyone else and decide they wanted nothing to do with disney. By then it was too late, and the show that was getting them so many accolades was already left to the wayside. And why we haven't seen anything of them since, they're disenchanted with film and tv like many of us are now.

overall yeah, but there was a decent chunk of dorne stuff in the books that they just jettisoned. I haven't read the books since the last ons was released so I'm a bit hazy, but basically prince doran was an intelligent guy putting plans in place to gain revenge on the lannisters for the past and his brother's recent skull fucking, and the mother snek actually respected him and understood this. instead in the show we got her murdering him because the way to avenge the viper is to kill the remaining members of his family.

I think they did it as a fuck you to George. He promised them the next book would be out long before they reached that point. They delayed a season a whole year waiting on his ass. His stupid stories had them casting more and more people, finding more and more locations for scenes and making sets, all that proved to be completely irrelevant wastes of time and money. Who knows where the Dorne plot was meant to go or how it was going to fit into the ending? George certainly didn't tell them and it's not like D&D were going to make up something amazing for it. They just wanted to adapt the books., not write them.

I think GRRM wanted to make Dorne a big counterweight to the might of Kings Landing, but in the show they made them seem meh. In all honesty it's been so long I forget alot form the books and show.

is she the only Dorne actress to have a career afterwards?

GoT started to lose its female audience after the controversial Cersei/Jaime sex scene in S4 and Sansa being raped in S5. Their solution was to turn every storyline into an opportunity for girlboss moments and female characters "winning" as many interactions as possible. Prince Doran died in the show because he was a man and the Sand Snakes were women, that simple.
