Watching the cast interviews about the making of Robocop was pretty interesting. The movie almost got scrapped and the suit wasn't working since it was too rigid, heavy, and time consuming to put on/off. They brought in someone who took the suit and went over every piece of it to start trimming, he took out a bunch of rubber layers. And he took Peter Weller for a while to just have him walk around for hours changing and refining the walk and movement in the suit so that it eventually become what was shown on screen. It was nothing like that when at the start.
