>>212318604If a guy breaks into your house and you injure him he can sue you for everything you own
>>212318593>but I feel like what's depressing is just how pointless the whole affair wasThen I'd advice you not to read about certain famous serial killers.
The shit they did to their victims will ruin your sleep. Often for no other reason that "I did it because I could get away with it"
>>212318683Yeah the toolbox killers's recording of Shirley Ledford murder was the last thing that made me feel this shitty.
>>212318604I haven't seen the other two movies but that's absolutely not what funny games is about
>>212318735>Yeah the toolbox killers's recording of Shirley Ledford murderDoesnt exist outside of the FBI, anything you've heard online is just re-enactments based off the transcripts
>>212318783They literally spend 70% of the movie kissing the killers asses while the killers seem to push further and further in disbelief
>>212318683I read books and watched docs and shows about the famous ones when I was a teenager and then I got really sick of the whole serial killer true crime genre. There's no empathy for the victims who endured the unimaginable horror and pain at the hands of monsters. The killers are the heroes and protagonists of the stories and the victims are an afterthought. The true crime fans who have all that sick shit in their heads isn't good. True crime serial killer freaks are sick and they're getting off on watching and reading the material. I get morbid curiosity but miring yourself in the most depraved things humans do to each other as a hobby isn't normal or healthy.

>>212318249 (OP)this shit is the scariest movie ever made
Dogville is a bit of a downer.
>>212319234I don't necessarily agree because I'd have to think about it, but I think it's a fair opinion. Definitely the most realistic portrayal of what being an actual victim of a serial killer is like.
>>212319202>Enter the voidSaw it for the first time when i was 13 but i didn't get it. Watched it again when i was 20 with one of my best friends back when we were retarded potheads and we went to sit outside in his garden for an hour saying nothing to each other. Just sitting next to each other in silence.
>>212319202>NetworkKek that's a good pick
It basically makes all the typical commie political complaints about society but where every other movie gets idealistic, it just caps them off with "You won't do shit, you can't do shit, this isn't reverse psychology to try to pressure you to do shit, we are FUCKED, it is so fucking over, it probably has been over since the first monkey sharpened a stick"
Actually Brazil popped into my head typing that
>>212319328Dude, I was a 20 year old pothead when it released in theaters. You get it. It captures the effect of being high like no other movie and then the kid dies and things become super different. It's an overwhelming film.
>Spooktober a few years back

True crime serial killer freaks are sick and they're getting off on watching and reading the material.I agree with all this
People who consume that stuff are only hurting themselves, I don't get it, there's no need to get into that stuff unless you're an investigator or wish you were a killer
>>212318595The whole family is ded. It's a video to the public about 3 dead ppl. The gramps watched it happen, all legal.

>>212318249 (OP)Fire Walk With Me hit me so hard I had to recover from it for like a full day. I was still sad the next day. Man.
>>212320352Unwatchable (in the boring way) and I was so excited after finishing twin peaks season 2 for it
>>212320262Nothing happens through the entire thing, then the killer turns out to be a guy who thinks he's super deep and different because he threw himself off a veranda. Then it ends. No idea why people are shocked at the ending, the killer basically tells the guy what will happen 30 minutes earlier.
>>212320077I got into it as a morbid curiosity as in "how and why can people do this to each other" and I also grew up in the 90s when true crime was really coming into its own with America's Most Wanted, Unsolved Mysteries, and all the serial killer movies and true crime cable shows but like I said, after learning about the famous ones, I became disgusted with the whole true crime serial killer ecosystem. I don't mind fictional serial killer movies or shows but true crime stuff like the Dahmer show where it feels like the killer is being celebrated and the victims are just numbers or notches on his belt is repulsive.
Depending on the type of degenerate you are, you can even coom to this movie.
Well, two scenes.
>>212320387It's not like the show but it's kino. Were you not familliar with Lynch otherwise?
>>212320584Only seen TP seasons 1 and 2 and FWWM, keep putting off mullholand drive and blue velvet
>>212320674Blue Velvet is one of the movies of all time. Don't miss it.
>>212320077the supposed psychology behind it is that people (women) relate to the trauma
>>212318249 (OP)I wanted to see a movie, not a mirror
>>212319234It's scary not because of the fag killer, but because obsession really is so powerful that it can kill you.
>>212320879Yes, I know but I don't buy it. I've discussed serial killer true crime with enough women to not believe that excuse. It isn't them learning about the nature of men so they can better protect themselves or whatever feminist spin they put on it. It's about being titillated by men who do unspeakable things to other people. A lot of the famous killers are gay fags who raped and tortured boys and men and I'm supposed to believe women are interested in that stuff like Dahmer because they relate to the trauma inflicted on women by men? Fuck outta here, they're turned on by the depravity for some reason. The women serial killer groupies prove my point.
>>212319361Yeah Brazil made me feel pretty down afterwards. As I was watching it I thought it'd be some kind of optimistic challenge to the hopelessness of 1984, but it ends on pretty much the same page.

>movies that make your life worse
You mean movies that have caused you trouble with people IRL rather than movies that hurt your feels? There are a few movies that have caused me real life trouble
When I was 13 in the early 2000s and fully immersed in kino culture, I brought a few DVDs to my friends house who was also a kino head. He had artfag, cinema loving parents who bought a DVD player in 1999 and let him watch all kinds of R rated movies. I brought Reservoir Dogs, a horror movie I can't remember, and 8mm. He chose 8mm. We put it on in the living room and his dad sat down and started watching it with us during the part where Nic Cage is investigating the underground porn markets and clips of a porno with a nurse fisting a guy are shown. My friends dad made us turn it off and told me it was depraved and I shouldn't be watching movies like that. Then he put on The Matrix DVD and we watched it for the hundredth time. We stopped being friends immediately after because his parents thought I was a bad influence.
>>212321449No, they stab Michael Fassbender and he bleeds to death in the river when they're hiding from them, then at the end she escapes and runs to a nearby house for help, but the house is owned by the parents of the kids, and their fathers drag her into a bathroom and the film ends with her screaming.
>>212320584I do occasionally dabble in Lynchian kinematography.
>>212318359The whole movie is about taking the leap into the unknown to achieve your dreams and the conclusion is that some leaps land you into a coffin. It's literally anti-risks, telling the audience to never take them no matter how do the outcome may be
>>212320352But that movie has a somewhat hopeful ending
>>212323370Well, in real life Mia Farrow is a complete psycho so donโt feel too bad for her.

>>212328207>>212320938Kek canโt go wrong with Solondz
Maybe I'm a pleb who can't properly engage with fiction but I found this the most crushing movie I've ever watched just because
>it's absolutely bleak torture porn
>it really happened
>on researching it the movie slightly WHITEWASHED it, what the little girl went through in real life was even worse, even more bafflingly callous in how long it took and how many people participated in or tolerated it
Somehow that's just a thousand times worse to me than "a laughing demon clown sawed a girl's scalp off and threw salt on her"
I don't think it's depressing. t's such a pretty looking movie it negates the dark subject matter. Maybe if you are lost in your head and not enjoying the shots.
>>212318683Worst is the torture. It also seems like boys and young men were often more vulnerable than women in the 70s at least.

>>212318678Just kill him. Unironicaly it works in Europe based on cases I've read from the UK, Sweden, and Finland. If you injure a home intruder the case will take years and years and you'll end up in jail, but if you kill him "accidentally" the penalty will be something like manslaughter at most and you'll have a quick simple trial and can begin serving your sentence quickly (3-5 years, less for good behavior).
>>212331376lmao this. There was some guy in the Netherlands that straight up assassinated a millionaire politician and still only did like 8 years in luxury Euro jail.

The Girl with the Needle (2024)
Why does this movie filter normies so hard. These are 1 star reveiws from Google reviews.
>What an awful movie. Of course, someone interested in it today can read the Wiki and be spared the ugliness of the original conception breathing on one for the rest of one's life. This is the story of a sadistic person who, well...read the wiki. The thing I'd like to prove is that art like this is cruel when in fact life itself isn't cruel in the end because there's more to the story of innocent people being murdered in a horrible way, buried alive...there's always more to the story because there is the story of the murderer's life before during and after the crime. Same as well for the victims. The creator of the novel and the movie don't go there because obviously they are primarily interested in a work of emotional exploitation. The complete story would be beyond the imagination of someone who just wants to tell a horrible story. In life, actual things happen for a reason and ultimately there is always resolution. Nobody really gets away with anything in the long run, and nobody suffers such a terrible death without there being a reason going back over lifetimes. Of course if one just wants to tell the story of superficial horrible crime, there's no need to even imagine the rest of the story.
>I hate movies that just build and build with promises of the payoff to be in the end, but instead the ending spits in your face. Then pompous dogmatic critics gaslight you for being underwhelmed, disappointed, and confused by bad endings by responding to your valid questions and comments about them with โโฆbut thatโs the whole pointโฆโ

>>212318802Incorrect. You can partially hear it in The Killing Of America. News footage from outside the court room when it's played and a juror runs out. Unfortunately the narrator is speaking over it.
>>212340023This is so bleak it loops around to being a laugh-out-loud comedy.
PSH's character is the single most raped person ever put to film.

this shit fucked me up for 2 weeks after
wrote a giant journal entry about it with all the painful self reflection triggered by it
same guy directed Dream scenario which is like the milquetoast version of it for american audiences

This documentary is completely fucked. Everyone in the entire film is terrible.
This is a very high quality film, but with pretty messed up content
I was going to say The Machinist if that movie actually lived up to the gnarly images of Bale as a skeleton and its basic premise and wasn't a fucking in-your-face completely devoid of substance piece of crap with whimsical Disney music as the OST. Kid you not. What a humongous waste of potential. Then again, such a concept can o nly be done well in European film. Even the darkest American movie is an MCU flick compared to the standard European movie.
>>212348310The Machinist was not pessimistic at all, it had a very hopeful and uplifting ending
The most implausible part is how the protagonist was super traumatized and suffering, that never happens to me

>>212330976>watched the original ages ago>meant to watch the remake but eventually forgot about it>always thought Bridges was playing the MC and Sutherland the killer>start watching it because of this thread>starts off with Bridges doing all the things the killer did in the original>figured it was some sort of subversion flashforward, him trying to get into the mind of the killer or something>eventually realise Bridges is the one playing the killer That was a genuine curveball for me.
>>212335453If you didn't feel anything watching FWWM, there is something deeply wrong with you.
Martyrs is the first movie where I really questioned why anyone would make such a thing, or what the point of it existing is
>>212349174>hopeful and upliftingNo, it did not. He admitted his guilt but he'll still go to prison for killing a kid in a hit and run. Plus, the way they revealed the twist 30 minutes really irked me. They didn't care to let the audience walk through the movie without having their hand holded. If the same movie was made in Europe, it would've been 1000x better. The concept alone and Christian Bale's gaunt appearance promised a movie so much better than what it was.
>>212331193I watched this movie on the eve of the saddest and loneliest birthday I've ever had. It was truly a beautiful experience.
