>>21235635122 mil is a lot of money though
This is just a big list of movies that mog the fuck out of the selfsucking monkey flick
>>212356290 (OP)It's fun to watch Robbie Williams and his dozens of fans have such intense fits of rage that no one cares about him or his life story
If he wasn't the punchline of a joke in one episode of Derry Girls, I would never have heard of this fag
I'm pretty sure that before this movie came out, people over there didn't know who he was unless they were Take That fans
>>212356290 (OP)I can't believe /tv/ doom posters were actually right I was sure this would do well off the Monkey gimmick
>>212356290 (OP)whats the fixation on race car movies?
>>212356635Competition is KINO as fuck, it's a shortcuck for having an engaging story, and the racing track sets and props already exist so it saves a ton of money in that front too.
>>212356635One of those guys that has a panic attack every time they drive so they hate cars. Racing is the pinnacle of car culture so it makes sense they'd find a way to make it a grievance
I'm American and I watched this slop and it was terrible. It was just a vanity project about a guy I knew nothing about who hit every note for every generic famous person movie (muh self esteem, muh substance abuse, muh fame and fortune) except he was monke. Boring as shit and predictable as fuck even though I still have no idea who this nigga is. 1/10.
>>212356290 (OP)i know who the singer is but i did not know the movie is about him. i thought it was some lame animated drama movie about a monkey like babe is about a pig.
>>212356393Not when it cost you $100 million to make the movie about a famous yuropop star that basically nobody has heard of.
I watched Better Man but haven't seen any of that carslop
>t. Knows Robbie Williams as "the guy who sang over the Finding Nemo credits"
>>212356290 (OP)Why does /tv/ try so hard to meme me into watching this slop?
>>212356290 (OP)Who the hell is Dick Clark's New Year's Rocking Eve.
>>212357316Yeah, in the 2020s he made a movie
>>212356290 (OP)What an embarrassing comic...
>Read about how Robbie Williams is selling out stadiums and breaking records all over Europe and wherever else
>Literally nobody in the US knows who the fuck he is
It's kind of strange, because even bands like Oasis and Blur get some recognition, but this guy is a literal ghost
Ran a college radio station, I never played a robbie williams
I remember some request I got ranging from
Fear factory, Luther vandross, chaka Khan, chubby checker, La Aventura, Megadeth, dirty ol bastard, Belinda Carlisle but never a Robbie Williams song. He's simply irrelevant here
>>212357951Also if he's support to be big elsewhere why the fuck did it still bomb internationally
>>212357793'pop' music doesn't exist anymore. pop is short for popular, because the genre is supposed to represent the mainstream standards that everyone is familiar with. But nowadays, nobody listens to the same music as anyone else, we're all isolated into our own niches and subcultures. there will never again be musicians or bands like Elvis or the Beatles or Michael Jackson who capture the spirit and attention of an entire generation.
>>212357583>a famous yuropop star that basically nobody has heard of.He was famous though... two decades ago
>>212358193>there will never again be musicians or bands like Elvis or the Beatles or Michael Jackson who capture the spirit and attention of an entire generation.Wrong, this is a cycle that we'll pull out of eventually
>>212356290 (OP)This comic makes no sense, nobody was "upset" about Better Man. Nobody knew who he was and didn't get the monkey thing so they didn't see it.
>>212358313no. the internet and MP3s killed radio, which killed the Top 40 format, which killed pop music. There has never been a point since the dawn of radio where pop music didn't exist. Elvis was the top selling musician every year from 1955 until the early 80s, there will never be a music act with that sort of cultural staying power ever again. modern "pop" acts arrive, get shilled, and then burn out within a year because they can't build a fanbase. remember Ice Spice? remember Billie Eilish? neither do I.
It's a shitty music biopic that came out after a parody movie drove the last nail in the coffin of the genre. Releasing a music biopic right after the Weird Al movie is like releasing a star-studded disaster movie right after Airplane! came out
>>212358448>remember Ice Spice? remember Billie Eilish? neither do I.How can you not remember them if you just named them
>>212356290 (OP)brits on TikTok were having an actual extenstial crisis when they discovered that 99% of Americans had no idea who Robbie Williams was
they legit thought he was the UK's version of Justin Timberlake and instead was another reminder that Britain doesn't matter at all on the world stage
>>212358907kek they really thought it was some mass gaslight from americans to troll them, but then it started to sink in "wait, they actually don't know who he is"
>>212356290 (OP)its the fact this fag picked racing movies to shit on as an example, it was him transparently revealing he was a dork mad that people go to masculine movies over shitty musicals
Britchad here
We mostly don't like this cunt either
He's very forced
>>212358907Cool brittania was still a thing, I do remember the obsession with diana, spice girls and blue etc but they really overreached with Robbie Williams
>>212358313>Wrong, this is a cycle that we'll pull out of eventuallyYou and people like you are literally the donkey character in Animal Farm. It's like you can't even comprehend that things change or something.
i wouldnt have watched it if was about an american monkey man either. haha what a hunk of shit
>>212358964>but then it started to sink in "wait, they actually don't know who he is"I think most Americans' only exposure to Robbie Williams was his song "Millennium" that was included on the "Now That's What I Call Music! 2" compilation album in 1999. And that's it. I don't think it even really appeared on radio stations that much.
>>212359503oh shit i remember that song but i had no idea who made it
As far as I'm aware, those racing movies *don't* presume you know about the events they depict. Ford v Ferrari goes into detail on the rivalry, the build up, etc. Better Man, with it's monkey conceit, assumes you do know who the subject is. The whole monkey idea, basically portraying a famous, troubled man as a primate, is predicated on you knowing at least a little bit about the guy himself. A movie about the Beatles where the Beatles are all portrayed as anthropomorphic cats could make sense; a movie that portrays mid-century science fiction author Cordwainer Smith as a reluctant cow would be incomprehensible to anyone not deeply read in on his work.
>>212358448>Elvis was the top selling musician every year from 1955 until the early 80sKek this isnโt close to true. The Beatles knocked him off his perch in the 60s
>>212356290 (OP)The amount of butthurt this has caused britbongs hasn't been seen since we dumped their tea in the ocean
>>212357793Why doesn't he just tour the US if he wants fame there
>>212359167>I do remember the obsession with diana, spice girls and blue etc but they really overreached with Robbie WilliamsYes they did lol. A movie about the Spice Girls would have recouped its costs
>>212359360>You and people like you are literally the donkey character in Animal Farm. It's not a totalitarian government though, it's music
Take your fucking meds
>>212359167They should make a Spice World style fake biopic. That or a A Hard Day's Night / Help surreal movie with actors playing the Beatles
>>212359503>I think most Americans' only exposure to Robbie Williams was his song "Millennium"That's the only time I remember him being noteworthy in the US. The song wasn't even that good but he had a lot of marketing hype behind him. Even then he seemed forced, and fell out of the public's consciousness once the marketing bucks ran out.
lol you can feel the seethe from the comic creator that nobody gave a shit about his obscure old music man
>>212356290 (OP)this comic is 100% reliant on the implication that the guy is unreasonably upset. it's like those internet comics where the author draws themselves winning an argument vs an incensed illogical idiot strawman
otherwise it's a completely normal sentiment, why would you watch a biopic (?) with middling reviews about someone you've never heard of with a cast you've never heard of in an uninteresting setting? most people didn't know or care about it, I never heard of it before this whole meme
>>212359992Theyโre going to be making a biopic about The Beatles. Barry Keoghan is going to be Ringo
>>212356290 (OP)Is this comic implying that amerimutts know who Senna was...?
>>212356290 (OP)I haven't seen it and at this point have no plan to out of sheer spite for the single Yurofag who keeps trying to spam this meme about his psycho narcissist literally who British popstar, but I can guarantee you that Rocketman was better. The best biopic in 20 years and Taron Edgerton didn't get enough recognition for it.
>>212358907Churchill buckbroke the entire Empire out of a petty dislike of Germany and being owned by his (((creditors))). It's as hilarious as it is sad that Churchill is still celebrated when he is single handedly responsible for self-nuking the UK.
>>212361382Oh fuck, I forgot about that. Literally Radcliffe's best film. It's pretty close between the two honestly.
>>212359151but he once sold out stadiums yea?

>>212361491Who the fuck is this guy you're talking about?
Do you mean Robin Williams?
Is this some madela shit or is the (((media))) trying to see if they can "inseption" a fake person and see if they can get away with it? Who's next Addie Hitler the famous rock star?
>>212356290 (OP)As an American I have to say that we all know exactly who Robbie Williams is and know all his songs but we are just lying to trick people in the UK
>>212356290 (OP)Should have made a movie about Robin Williams instead
>>212361670literally impossible because no living actor can portray him
>>212361714>literally impossible because no living actor can portray himto late

>>212361396I actually like it when producers and celebs lash out at the public when their shitty movie fails. It's like the spoiled kid taking his ball and storming off
I mean I doubt a monkey sings that well. Seems more like a gimmick/novelty. If the music ain't good it doesn't catch on simple as that
>>212361714Tom Hanks could.
Sorry, let me rephrase that as "would" because he has some weird fixation on playing famous people in biopics like a skinwalker fetish

>Race for GloryThat wasn't even a major studio release lol. All of these films also present their stories straight up. Better Man is about a fucking monkey in a non-fictional world
