I've thought about this and I think Lynch was the last one I'll ever be actually sad for. While I like their films, Scorsese is old and Tarantino is an asshole. Jack Nicholson is so old I've accepted his death for a decade now.

Clint isn't a particularly good actor, honestly. He can only do stoic, tough man and that gets repetitive after a while. Sure, he does it well but I don't care how many times you can bounce a ball against a wall. He's always outperformed by someone better in his films, and again he's a fine actor for one very specific type, but even then there's always someone better too who also has more range.

Stuff like this is why I'm always baffled why people diagnosed with anything terminal and especially neurodegenerative don't just hang themselves five minutes after diagnosis. The reason you associate him with "just one character type" is because a) that's majority of his roles and b) as he got older, he focused on stuff that required least effort from him.
Let me get this straight: he isn't some ultra-range talent, but you are clearly missing the wide range of movies he did back in the day that cast him in just as wide and diverse range of roles.
