Alex Garland (ranked best to worst)
Ex Machina > Devs > Sunshine > Judge Dredd > 28 Days Later > 28 Years Later > Warfare > Men > Civil War > Annihilation

Ex Machina
Sunshine
Men (I liked it, whatever, especially that conversation between the black guy and the woman protagonist before he commits suicide)
Annihilation
Devs
28 Year Later
Civil War
28 Days Later (doesn't hold up imo)
Judge Dredd (dumb cliche capeshit, what's the big deal?)

Tearin' up the dancefloor with no survivors.

no, annihilation is an utter failure as a movie. The opening credit scene reveals the central mystery of the movie by showing the comet hitting the lighthouse and the alien creature. And the very next scene is a flash FORWARD to after the expedition showing Natalie Portman survives the entire movie. Maybe this was a studio decision but regardless it's so retarded I can't believe more people don't point it out.

Nah, Garland completely missed the atmosphere and the point of the book. He could have made the modern CΡ‚aΠ»ΠΊep. He also added a cuck sideplot which was not in the book. Truly an abomination of a film and adaptation.

There is no tension when you know the main character survives and you know why Area X exists.

Woof at this take. Annihilation was girl-power Stalker, and much worse to boot. Sunshine wasn't great but at least it was an originalish concept.
