Cavel had the perfect look for superman and I think he is a good actor but he needs solid direction. Left on his own he is a little bland but I think given a better director it would have been a lot better. I still liked man of steel for the most part, didn't even hate the zod scene.

Rewatched mos yesterday, while it's far from perfect (the end battle could've comfortably had 10mins cut from it, as well as few seconds here and there, just to make the flow better, in my eyes at least) Cavil was OK, while he was no Reeves, he was at least committed to the role, just needed finer direction.

DC does have more of an edge to it, but it’s not overpowering. There’s a balance to it. Superman is that counterweight to the darkness. DC’s basically a Shonen, and Superman is the protagonist. Snyder’s Superman was a cynical portrayal, making the rest of that world bleak and cynical. Some people like that twist, others prefer the more traditional approach to DC

what's odd is the designs are generally pretty simple (rather than beltsbeltsbelts, fantasy/RPG artwork had the same problem). so within that, you could do a lot: don't have to go all tacticool, but you COULD add texture. matte or glossy? Spandex morph-suit or some leather type material?
