i don't think it's eric's influence, tim just ran out of steam on his own.

Awesome Show was the culmination of so much 90s and early 2000s culture. It wasn't just fart sounds and chippy, it drew on early internet culture and local public TV and summer camps and technology and offices and weird reality TV, you don't realize how much contemporary culture is packed into the show because they're not commenting on it, just embracing it.

so at some point it has to run out. You only grow up in once, in one culture.

Nah I was a pretty huge fan of theirs, watched all their stuff. Eric was the one that was really into the weird David Lynch type stuff and Tim was really not like that. He was just a theatre kid but mostly did not care for anything too off the wall and didn’t get it. Eric was the weird shit, Tim was just trying to do Christopher Guest Best in Show/Waiting for Guffman type boring shit.

I think Eric brought a wacky energy that is obviously missing from Tim's later work. but he's terrible on camera, extremely unfunny, and it never felt like he truly understood the bit, and always just defaulted to "im gonna be weird and random". The best example of this is when they compete in who's the most handsome, where they behind the scenes make their own videos independently from each other. Tim makes a hilarious straight face dating parody video with some truly absurd visuals. While Eric just wears a funny hat going "oh yeah" while shooting lighting from his fingers. It kinda highlights what their individual influence was to the show as a whole.

People take a lot of pride in their political identity. That must be impossible when you refuse to watch art made by "liberals" and yet you insist on researching all of their social media shit so you can find flaws. Those people are just shooting themselves in the feet. Imagine writing off everything Clint Eastwood or Robert Duvall ever did just because they went all rightwing in their declining, demented years.

Obviously age changed him but I also think The Comedy was a pivotal moment for him as an artist, because it kind of literally is about this, being a manchild that uses irony as a shield and is incapable of being sincere ever. 2012 was kind of a surreal year in that way because they did the Billion Dollar Movie and The Comedy and the contrast between the two couldn't be more extreme

he literally described his show as "like Tim and Eric" he literally just said it on that podcast with MeatheadMike and the asian guy

when you cant actually describe your show without using another hugely successful show *which also came first* then that means you didnt invent anything

I loved everything Tim did, even billion dollar movie, up until on Cinema. I enjoyed the initial short web series but it's diluted to "lol angry right wing guy is an asshole". It was okay at first but now On Cinema has gone on longer than awesome show did, and it's not even close to as funny.

have any of you actually seen... what did this guy have? a show?
I've only ever seen the memes, which are amusing
I'd say Sam is more influential. He either coined or popularized a ton of internet jargon such as "coom" or "globohomo"
he has some silly big brother internet show that I've never seen but out of nowhere he makes some political video on twitter last christmas and it's probably one of the funniest and most memorable political speeches I've seen
up there with Trump's American Carnage inaugural 2016 speech
tim seems to be very popular with the safe-edgy adult swim crowd and r*dditors
