did found footage die off as a genre? people don't talk about any new releases.
>>212405221Cause FF is more of a genre where you have to find the gems yourself.
>>212405268just seemed to be a shitload more in the past.
found a recent one now I haven't seen, The Coldness so putting that next on my watchlist.

I noticed that I Know What You Did Last Summer was set in North Carolina from a license plate but it looks nothing like NC. Apparently they didn't shoot many scenes here. I wish there was more horror set here.

I don't know if Fatal Attraction counts as /hor/ but I cannot fucking believe how bad Glenn Close looks in this movie. Not that she is particularly attractive normally but holy shit. Michael Douglas and his friend see her looking like this and act like she's the hottest woman they've ever seen when she straight up looks like a junkie, what the fuck?
>>212408763she looks like Beetlejuice
>>212408763That's what makes that dynamic so realistic. Sometimes you go get sexually attracted to women who don't look particularly good
>>212408763I never found her attractive either.
>>212408763Kathleen Turner is the better sociopathic blond
>>212406325Kek, I thought about reccing Martin to the anon in the last thread wanting normal vampires from the 60-70s who just want blood because that scene was too late for him to relate to

>after a few years, he starts regretting what he did, it starts to eat him up inside, he wishes he could go back in time and stop himself
>the girl calls him
>"Hey, Artie, come here"
>Artie is reluctant, he can't bear to look her in the eyes
>"It's OK, Art, it's OK..."
>Art finally sits next to her
>"You know, I'm alright now, I'm OK, you know, I think of my children, I think of them, then I close my eyes, and I just...dream"
>Art starts breaking down now, he has to let it out, he has to open up

>>212413282I was such a drunk asshole watching this with my friends because of the constant cgi. I need to accept that pretty much every movie is going to look like a vidya cutscene and try to filter that out of my analysis.
The movie was decent.

>>212408763Kek I watched this and thought the exact same fucking thing. And Michael Douglas's wife was hot as fuck in the film too. I suppose they were trying to play up the "We have a kid so we never have sex" trope but they hardly put any effort into it at all

>>212419425I remember a show called "slasher" (yeah, marketing team was retarded), not sure what happened with the show but the first 2 seasons were okay
>>212419425Current? Not that I know of.
Girl at work told me to watch Teacup, but she likes stuff like True Blood, so I don't think it's probably my type of thing. There are some good older horror series.
I may be too late for this but thoughts on Michael Myers?
>>212419425Not at all, pretty dry these days.
>>212421373I tried to fap to lesbian vampire porn recently, but couldn't because one of the girls had a ridiculous BBL that just looked retarded. Her face was also fucked up with too much lip filler.

It was direct-to-video and doesn't have JLH's tits. I feel like I've seen more than enough to get the references in the new movie.

>last guns
>ultra-instinct Gemma linked with Megan and taking down armed guards
>AI deity hidden and guarded by a paramilitary group
>Aikido is useful in real scenarios
>Megan's past actions are just forgiven
Yeah, this movie sucked ass. I was willing to forgive the lack of horror for action, but the story jumped the shark and contradicted the previous one. Also Megan doesn't need to be a good guy.
>>212419336i thought the leads in the new final destination were fine, especially considering that the leads in all the previous entries were unlikable assholes. haven't seen scream though.

I'll definitely check out those others
>>212423372Welcome to Raccoon City felt like a Resident Evil movie made by AI. You could see all the elements in it but with the poor accuracy of a directorbot that has only seen scattered images of what it's adapting, and mashing all the games together into one thing

>when I saw Spider-Man 2I don't like the movie Darkman (1990) or really consider it horror, but Sam Raimi made it before Spider-Man and it is kind of a superhero movie. You can tell in the action scenes that he carried the style over to the Spider-Man movies.

>>212427007>and doesn't really have the comedy aspect. That's why it's better.
>>212427007For what it's worth, he also put his touch on the Doctor Strange movie. It's still a MCU movie with it's issues but it's not as generic as most of them.
>>212426275Damn this guy had enough films to fill most of an October marathon..
>>212427069>That's why it's betterBut II, Army of Darkness, and the TV show all have the humor/slap stick comedy aspect. I think the tone across all three are really consistent and the continuity with those are also really good, despite the lore not really getting fleshed out until the TV show. The first one is kind of the odd man out that really isn't necessary to follow the rest and you can just start with 2 desu.
Who are the /hor/ recommanded youtuber again? I know Deadmeat is a no go unlike our guy Cody Leach but who else?
>>212427271>The first one is kind of the odd man outIt's balanced out by 2013 and Rise. The best thing about ED is it works as full on commedy or brutal grim horror. They just can't fuck it up
>>212427085>Doctor Strange movieI haven't seen it. I probably haven't seen most MCU movies, I like comics but got burned out on the movies a long time ago. I'll check that one out.
Hope Raimi's new film is more horror than thriller. Shymalamadingdongs films always lean away from horror when they'd be better embracing it.
>>212426609Come on now did you really expect it to be fine art? There were a few good scenes in the film and I appreciated the tone but I can't refute your criticism.
>>212427007Just finished the Evil Dead 1 and I thought the dead were pretty campy. I liked it a lot. The set, makeup, and the effects were kino.
I'll definitely watch 2 soon but my next movie tonight will be a different genre since I already watched 3 horror movies today
>>212405221the way this was shot makes it seem like it was intended to be FF. very distracting desu

>>212429057>I know what you did last summer>I still know what you did last summerThose movies ae garbage lol. All of those post-Scream meta horror movies are among the shittiest in the genre.
>>212429112How do you feel about movies where the killer is a writer/filmmaker?
>>212429152also gay and retarded.
>>212429112yeah, I don't disagree. I wanted to watch them ahead of the new movie in a couple weeks.
I didn't mind the first one but I was sick of it by the second. I'll probably still watch the new movie since I have the AMC subscription.
Christine was great but I probably wasn't meant to root for the car.
>>212429321>>212429057>Did you know one of the cars used for the filming of Christine made an appearance in the Stephen King series 11.22.63, in which Sarah Gadon enters in the 1st episode.
>>212429057I still need to grind through the Summer films. Thoughts compared to the first one?
>>212429407I did not know that. I will now watch this series.
>>212429423It felt pointless. An obvious cash grab sequel to a movie that was already a mediocre version of Cape Fear.
>>212426609The Mashup didn't make any sense. Mostly the way it was lit really made me think it was supposed to be a show. An entire episode could be just the forest and mansion. While cutting back to other characters
>>212429112I've never seen last summer. I think I might finally be ready to watch it. I skipped seeing most of the post-Scream movies. There's was a shift in the genre I didn't care for at the time. Like you said, they became more meta, all started having big name celebrities, and were trying to be hip and modern. It was a turn off.
Just finished Heretic aka DUDE RELIGION LMAO
Based performance by Hugh Grant, but the movie itself is a 6/10, kinda bland
>>212430022Decent initial setup but falls apart once they head downstairs. I was hoping for a massive death maze, that would have been cool. I initially thought it was gonna be like, he was picking the most favored religion through seeing who god let live an die. Hire me Hollywood this would have been better and more thought provoking.
>>212413282Its probably enjoyed more because of the long wait between part 5 and Bloodlines, and also because outside of 2 and 4 for its more trashy aspects, most of the Final Destination sequels really aren't that great.

>>212407627I think The Mutilator is.
>>212431843There's no wind for our sails.
>>212431843Everyone is in theater to see Jurassic Park Rebirth
>>212427007>Evil Dead II is better imo, but the first one is good. It's lower budget though and doesn't really have the comedy aspect. Everybody initially thinks Evil Dead 2 is better because of the higher production values and Ash being more charismatic and comedic, but the more you rewatch the series, the more you'll grow to appreciate the first movie more.
To me, Evil Dead 1 is a perfect watch from start to finish, whereas Evil Dead 2 fucks around too much in the first half, and most of the characters are annoying
>>212404931 (OP)Is that the Amityville window?
Not sure what else to say about this other than its a fun raunchy B-movie with plenty of titties and every actor that played a villain fucking knocked it out of the park. Definitely had more fun watching it than Poultrygeist which was the first Troma film I saw years ago.
>>212424446I liked it, although I think the beginning was too rushed and gave away the mystery too quickly. As soon as they arrived at Lauraโs house, it was already clear that something was wrong.
The white circle, the bald kid, the pool.
Also there wasnโt enough time to build suspense and let things breathe naturally. I also found the scene where they drink together a bit out of place, especially happening right after the weird funeral. Still, it was a fun experience overall, and the casting of a genuinely blind girl was a good choice.
Iโd give it a 5/10.
The cat named Junkman was a nod to nigger-man?

>>212432256Poultrygeist is a masterpiece. The amount of effects that went into it despite it's budget was insane.
>>212408763Gay Actor Michael Douglas
>>212432256Amazing that a "low budget" film back then could still get a billion extras and a tank. The car chase scene even mogs the shit out of new films, you can tell there's probably gay regulations stopping them from making kino like this now.
>>212432324Combat Shock is one of those movies you think will be schlock but the more I've seen it the more it seems to be one of the few serious gritty films.
>>212432385>Gay Actor Michael Douglasbut he got throat cancer from eating pussy
>>212432341I think the problem I had with Poultrygeist was that I saw it about 8 years ago and I had no clue what to expect with a Troma film, so while it still had fun moments I basically jumped into the deep end of what I assume is their most gross out film ever. Maybe one day I'll rewatch it after going through their back catalogue.

>>212432256Toxic Avenger 4 is good, but 1 is their best movie. Don't expect to watch another Troma film that tops it. Tromeo and Juliet is also enjoyable like the other anon said.
>>212433390Toxie 4 was written by James Gunn and he plays a retard in it which is pretty funny.
>>212433325Retarded logic that would dictate the October threads and the entire tv board shouldn't exist.
>>212433390>>212432256They also made Class of Nuke 'em High right after The Toxic Avenger and it tries to be similar but comes up short imo. Some people really like it though.
>>212433419James Gunn wrote Tromeo and Juliet. He also gave Lloyd Kaufman a cameo in Slither. Trent Haaga wrote Toxie 4, but he's good. Also did Terror Firmer and the Killjoy series.
>>212433572What the fuck are you talking about you underage retard LMAO.
>>212433590>Killjoythat movie sucked so much ass.
>>212433606I've been on 4chins since 2006. You seem too stupid to follow your own posts so feel free to yell into the void.
>>212433270>Who only watches horror in OctoberMe actually.
>>212433661>no rebuttalI accept your concession.
>>212433207>only be posted during the Halloween seasonSummer is horror season also because of all the camp movies. And Jaws, Piranha, etc.
>>212433590I think Nuke Em is their second best, really liked the series. Sad we don't get more slime films.
>>212433678Even watching multiple films a day you wouldn't see all the new ones, let alone get some rewarches in.
The horror must flow.
>>212433719>Sad we don't get more slime films. The best one.
>>212433763>Poster shows green slime>It's actually yellowUnwatchable
>>212433719I wish the new Toxic Avenger wasn't going to bomb. It would be cool to get a reboot of the franchise with new Toxic Crusaders and stuff.
This is how they're drawing him in the new comic book...
>>212433750Every year has an october, anon.
>>212434201>Toxic CrusadersIf any anons never watched it, there was a cartoon spin-off.
>>212434201You can really feel the impending bomb. I blame Dinklage.
I don't mind the comic book look but just because it has that detailed Heavy Me tal look.
With more funding, Toxic Crusaders could totally work. People are worn out on marvel. Would best a Captain Planet film to the punch.
>>212433240To put a hex on you.
>>212434385>I blame DinklageYeah, it was a bad casting choice. I think the monster design looks bad and I'm iffy about the story with the whole father and son focus.
>>212434259Nope. Last October was the last one. There won't be any more.
>>212433154We need the Euros to take of and talk about bong horror or giallos or whatever.
>>212434737flat year society. we're gonna fall right off
>>212433325Agreed, we need frequent Smile generals.
>>212405221I wish there were more pure found footage movies instead of the jarring cutting and splicing of 3rd person and 1st person sequences.
Cool Corman sci-fi horror. I always enjoy the "man wants to press the limits of the human mind/body but goes too far" theme.
>>212436067I've been enjoying older sci-fi horrors lately, will make a note to watch it.
>>212436389The last one that I really liked was The Quatermass Xperiment/The Creeping Unknown. If you haven't seen that, make that a priority

>here's that alita battle angel sequel
Is this worth a watch? I tried a few weeks ago but fell asleep in the first 15 minutes. It gives me Ex Machina vibes.
>>212436708I hated Ex Machina, that's a way better film. But it is a dreamy vibes based movie so depends on how much that resonates with you.
>>212436708This is a good analysis of it.

Recommend me a comfy horror movie and I'll watch it
>>212436879Do not watch Lowlifes.
>Ghostwatch for found footage>The Innkeepers for something newer>Hatchet for a dumb slasher
>>212436879any vincent price film
>>212436708when is panos gonna drop his new flick already?
can't wait for it
>>212437430Probably got delayed by trying to do two films, I'm guessing Nekrokosm was in pre-production and then some bigwigs picked up his Flesh of the Gods script and he started on that instead. But at least we get more.
>>212434931looks like someone shooting a laser out of their eyes.
stupid minimalist posters.
>>212407723>muh attention spansThat's horror in general.
>>212438873breddy good, Skyman is my favourite of these kinds of ff alium films I think.
>>212411521It would be a great twist if Art the Clown becomes the hero while Sienna becomes the villain. Art, after realizing the error of his ways, manage to expel the demon from his body. Art takes off his mask in front of Sienna, revealing himself to be her father. Sienna is mind broken and unwittingly accepts the demon due to her negative feelings of hatred. She becomes an angel of death, slaughtering everyone in her path.
>>212439252>Art takes off his mask in front of Sienna, revealing himself to be her father. Damn if it takes this path it'd be dark. But the father coming back in some way does make sense.

>>212439892all the better to cleave you with my dear
>>212436797Yeah, Ex Machina sucked.
>>212437701Cool poster. Another one for my October watchlist.
Any Thoughts On Lucio Fulci giallo and other macabre work?
Any Anons watched yet Exhuma? Any thoughts on it?
What else can I ask.... What about Itallian Giallo & horror? Any recommendations?
>>212440977Do you like Argento? This is a โgento general.
>>212440977>Lucio Fulci gialloeverything he's made is pretty fun. A Lizard in a Woman's Skin is my fav because the women are gorgeous.
if you've seen all his major films then Touch of Death (1988) is a deep cut from Fulci that is underrated and funny.
>Exhumaone of the better films from last year. some parts are maybe generic but where it goes definitely isn't.

>>212441060Replying to this for no specific reason.
>>212441060Let see I've Watched Tenebrae, Phenomena, 2 Giallo regarding Witches, Inferno and Deep Red. I like the Deep Red because of the twist is the Writer's Mother right?
But I would like to know the title of the movie of the foreign film that I've watched like 15 years ago. It's about the serial killer who killed people and left a cutout of zodiac animals, then fast forward when the MC is an adult, it revealed that the Killer is his best friend and his Father is covering up the murder commited by his Son. The MC mother is killed by the killer ages ago & MC meet with some love interest. Not quite sure the language though.
>>212441060rollin'
also should I watch Bring Her Back?
>>212441091>ExhumaYeah. I thought it would be like generic Korean Horror Slop like the Wailing but the setup is quite good. Introduce the so called antoganist then the plot twist is another Big Baddie will come and wreck the group's ass.
>>212441151It's actually not bad, slightly tedious drama aspect but way better than Talk To Me which I thought was trash.

>>212441166>Big Baddie I wish more films would do this. There's something about figures that are smaller than kaiju size, but bigger than any typical monster.
Anybody watched the Burial Ground(1981), I couldn't make of the Ending? The Quote at the end.
>>212441203>mom I frew up in my bed
>>212441225>the scene where he become zombie and tears off his mom's nippleQuite grim. Especially the ending where the last survivors got trapped by those monks???
>>212441203Did you try subtitles?
>>212441202>the imageis that the original night of the demon? I did watched the 1989 and the 2009 reboot. Sad that the sequel to the 2009 never greenlit.
>>212441258I did but it was ages ago. Couldn't remember the title of movie. I am hoping fellow /hor/ anons can help me out. Even I used Grok to assist me but no such luck!
>>212441254Burial Ground is awesome. It is what people think of when they think mindless horror film. There is almost no plot yet the whole thing still works really well.
Also aside from Fulci the zombies are some of the most classic looking dirt/sludge zombies there are.
>>212441288The 1954 film actually has nothing to do with the others, just happened to have a similar name. Still really good though, one of the best 50s horrors.
>>212405221>>212435337Milk and Serial was surprisingly good. It's more akin to Creep than supernatural.

Ill speakin' scud missile, heat-seekin'
Johnny Blazin', nightmares like Wes Craven
Niggas gunnin', my third eye seen it comin' before it happened
>>212441290I believe Fulci's Zombie is the best. Especially the slow moving one that often depicted in the movie poster.
How does the Island get zombify again? All I know is that the Reporter and the Girl's father is in the Island and there is a Doctor and the famous Door to Eye splinter puncture, but of course the Zombie Vs Shark underwater brawl which is quite kek in my opnion.
>>212441311I see. I did watched Mario Bava's film such as Bay of Blood & Planet Oof Vampire
>>212441415I'm still making my way through Bava's stuff. Black Sabbath is next on my list.
>>212441514any link to download Bava's stuff?
>>212441316eh once it gives up the plot like halfway through it falters. Creep is way better imo.
Does Argento's latest stuff still holds up?
>>212441531Nope but there's lots of 4K torrents out there since so much of it has been re-released.

>>212441681Area 51 is definitely a horror, found footage. Skyman is found footage as well, though also partly a character study.

>>212433714I while ago I rewatched some video of some russian guy being eaten alive by a tiger shark in egypt. Ever since I have wished that we could get another shark horror movie that actually has a serious tone ala Jaws 1. I'm so painfully sick of those shark b movies.
Hell, I would like something even more dark and gothic than what we got in Jaws 1. Something in black and white and closer to that photo of the cut Kintner attack scene in terms of vibes. Just a story about this ancient maneating monster that we all have an instinctual fear of terrorizing the residents of an island.
>>212443893a few people stranded in shark infested water after their sailboat gets shredded by a floating mine. they'd be trying to get back to land by trying to build some sailed raft from floating sailboat pieces.
sup /hor/es
i'm not a regular in these threads so i want to know what's /hor/'s verdict. Do you guys feel like 2020s are looking like an improvement for indie horror compared to the 2010s?
i personally don't look back fondly at the horror films of 2010s
>>212444447Similar level tbqh. We've had some nice suprises (Talk to Me, Late Night with the Devil, even Thanksgiving)
>>212443893Have you seen Open Water (2003)
>>212444602I have and that movie really terrified me as a kid. Basically ensured that I would never want to try scuba diving.
But it is not really what I want in terms of a new shark horror. I want something dark and depressing. People left powerless and with their lives ruined by the primordial horror lurking somewhere out there, under the waves. It is kinda hard to describe, but just something that taps into that evolutionary fear of sharks we have; treating the shark as just this malevolent force of nature rather then some big bad monster to defeat.
Something closer to the idea of a village being terrorized by a monster lurking in the shadowy woods that they are powerless to stop or even really understand; Just transplanted onto and island community and the woods traded for the sea.
>>212443837Kek idk if anon's from the US can understand the comfiness of watching something knowing Mary Whitehouse hated it
It's funny because half the list is her just hearing about it and being scandalised
