No, they were not. They were a 7/10 or 8/10 movie to most people, with some laughable moments thrown in there too. Hayden was mocked about his performance, the CGI was all over the place, no one cared about the story. It was amazing to see new Star Wars content though, for a moment there it felt that SW was over in the OT, so people were somewhat happy that the prequels exist, but it was already disapointing to old fans. You just had to be there.

I was in high school when AotC came out. People were very "meh" about tPM when it came out but most people figured things would get better. Clones was a giant pile of shit and I don't remember anyone I knew at the time liking it. Trisha Biggar dressed her in the most lush ensemble of clothing and wardrobe seen on screen in decades. Natalie was fucking spoiled rotten in these movies.

I actually binge watched these movies fairly recently, my objectively correct ratings are
>Episode 1: The only scene I liked was the podracing because it cut to jar jar every 3-4 minutes instead of every 30 seconds. I rate it a 3.5/10.
>Episode 2: The CGI in this movie looks hideous and the only thing worse than the ps2 graphics is the story and characters. I rate it a 3/10.
>Episode 3: The first 2/3rds are boring and could be removed entirely and nothing would change. When people tell me they like this movie I assume they like the last third of the movie and forget everything else. I rate it a 5/10.
>Episode 4: I still like it as much as I did when I was a young child. I rate it a 9/10.
>Episode 5: Great movie, I went in expecting my expectations not to be met but I was wrong. Every character moment was perfect and I can see why everyone still hypes it up years laster. I rate it a 10/10.
