So "Talk To Me" wasn't just a fluke, huh? Picrel was solid horror filmmaking, surprisingly brutal and uncompromising. One thing I didn't get is why the woman fed the possessed kid the dead dad's hair and the subsequent warning by the dad's apparition to his son. The scene where she does this is iirc right after the possession almost got lifted, so it seems like she feeds him the hair to stabilise him, however she should know that this will infuse the dad's soul into him or w/e, shouldn't she be avoiding that? And what was that warning "she'll die in the rain" about? It felt like it was supposed to be helpful advice to the son, but this information gives him nothing.

Both movie are great, yeah.

I loved this, more than Talk To Me even but yeah both movies are great. There's a fine line between just being misery porn and having something more meaningful to say and while bring her back was very dark and depressing, ultimately it didn't just feel like sad wank.

Connecting this to talk to me automatically creates disinterest because that movie was extremely bland.

I like the promotional website they made for Bring Her Back. Really creepy and captures the feeling of those disgusting dark web Russian sites perfectly. Also really cool that they added the detail of Sally Hawkins' character asking the seller questions in the comments lol. Clever marketing.

the demographics serve as a nice juxtaposition to the interesting supernatural concepts
them being regular people in a desperate situation makes it more engaging

the family stuff was well executed, the focus on the brother and sister relationship being slowly corroded by the foster mom's psychological tactics was great

you dont need to be contrarian about this movie just because its getting hype right now. its genuinely a well made modern horror film
