Its very loosely based on a real guy. Like the only cross over was that there was this jewish guy who became a prominent neo-nazi in the 60s and ended up killing himself after his jewish heritage was exposed. But the movie The Believer never really investigates why someone would do something like this so it just directionless.

American History X is about a white guy becoming a neo-nazi and it explores this in the best possible way.

An interesting thing about this scene is that as Gosling gets more and more agitated as he rants, he rants like a nasaly jew. Im not sure if this was intentional or not, but its unmistakable.

The Believer was a completely bogus and stupid movie, he flip-flops between his convinctions purely because the movie needs the drama to happen instead of writing it to be natural. The concept itself is completley improbable and ridiculous but could've been salvaged with some good and focused writing.
