Yeah agreed. Mutant dino wasn't needed at all. The island could have been a place for dinosaurs that proved to be too aggressive with their genetic engineering. That way they could use more carnivores and have an in-script reason why the dinosaurs tend to act like serial killer psychopaths. For the raptors it made sense, but every other dino acting that way was always silly. They acted more beastial in this one, besides mosaurus who REALLY hated Scarjo and wanted to eat her tits, but overall I thought that part was an improvement. The dinosaurs mostly just acted like pissed off animals. The rex scene was particularly good for this.

The creature scenes in this movie are indeed kino but Edwards' ability with showcasing scale and weight aren't really displayed in this new JW movie though. my friend dragged me to this even though i really had no interest. i was surprised how much i liked it. story and characters sucked but the set pieces were actually all good and the kills were surprisingly brutal. definitely better than all of the other jurassic world movies, which is a low bar to clear, but still a step in the right direction
