The thing you learn from this show is that nearly every accident is a unique chain of events nobody anticipated and can never be completely avoided. The Air France 447 accident is an example of a plane that crashed simply because the pilots were confused by flying through bad weather. There was nothing wrong with the plane at all. The thing that bothers me is there are millions of things that can go wrong with an airplane and all of them end up with you dead. In a car you dont die if there is a flat tire or engine overheat.

no, hitting the tree only slightly nudged the yaw axis of the aircraft, the only reason it starts rolling to the right is because the aleron downright fails, the pilot had enough time to register that it wasn't working and to kick hard right rudder to level the airplane

Imagine you are on TWA 800 relieved to finally be underway after having been delayed on the ground for more than an hour in the sweltering summer heat. Unaware that the very air conditioners making you more comfortable are dumping waste heat from the cabin into the center fuel tank creating explosive vapors. Next thing you know the front third of the plane is gone and you spend the next 90 seconds on fire corkscrewing 15,000 feet into the sea.
