Halloween II by Rob Zombie (director’s cut). I think it’s a great movie. Slasher fans seethe every time someone does something different.
and Exorcist II: The Heretic. It’s funny how dogpiled it was and is considered one of the worst movies ever made when all the sequels were much worse. Ole Kermode didn’t know how good he had it when this came out. I enjoy it.
M Night Shyamalan’s Old and Trap.
All of Paul W.S. Anderson’s movies.
I like some of Dario Argento and John Carpenter’s “please retire old man” era films like Il Cartaio and Ghosts of Mars.
And The Thing prequel but mostly because MEW was my original waifu.
Cosmopolis is 3.0 on the verge of falling. Audiences seriously hate late stage artists. I haven’t seen Megalopolis yet but i doubt it’s that bad for the same reason.

In mainstream cinema there's a lot more wider angle lenses and blurry backgrounds.
In arthouse cinema idk really, it's all very different. Although it seems like at some point during the late 10s there appeared a trend for non-standard aspect ratios. It's not like that shit didn't happen before (Xavier Dolan juvenile gimmickry) but it has increased to the point every other movie at a film festival has an aspect ratio that's not standard. And it isn't being used like a gimmick even, even regular social realist dramas will often be in 4:3 or 1.66:1.

I feel the need to write down my sincere thoughts during the current climate, it'll make me feel better. Stop reading right now if you don’t care about personal microblogging.

I’ve always struggled with being a part of online communities. I’ve hitherto never been in an online space where I feel a part of. /film/ is the one online space where I get a sense of belonging, appreciation, and acceptance.
Of course I put on an act with the help of my cool looking French actress, who doesn’t have a board ego? Others referring to Dalle as a “waifu” has always felt off. I’m not attracted to her, I don’t think about her outside /film/, she’s just one of a number of actresses who I like seeing.
I picked a “waifu” for no other reason than search for belonging. Belonging in an anonymous community to my mind requires means of identification. I of course shit out heaps of OC about movies and /film/meta, but that’s hardly a way to identify a person. Plus, actresses are easier on the eyes.
Tsaibro is the only recognizable person I know. We’ve had countless long-winded calls discussing cinema, even met up in real life. He’s one of the two people I can have uninhibited talks about movies with, and I wouldn’t know him without /film/. Big respect for that man.
This place really is important to me. To see the recent vile posts about the gimmick I partake in, gives me mixed feelings. I wouldn’t call it sadness in and of itself, but I get a vague sense of being ostracized. He’s not directly attacking me, but indirectly he has disturbed my sense of belonging, the sense that I’ve come to cherish more than any of you think.
I feel a pinch of guilt about putting Dalle in my posts, these recent threads have contained more “off-the-grid” posts from me than ever before since starting the gimmick.
I feel awful if I unintentionally upset somebody, especially if they hold it in for long. This guy seems to have opened the dam with malicious intention. I’m hoping to feel still waters again.

I watched Au hasard Balthazar. I was initially thrown off because Bobby switched up from his ascetic style as showcased in A Man Escaped, Pickpocket, and The Trial of Jeanne d'Arc. It was a much more conventional picture, except the actors were not good enough to perform what was asked of them... This guy Gérard, the criminal, who the film follows around, running around and raping, setting fireworks, I didn't care. But I got felt something stirring within me when Balthazar was dying on the hill. I hope Bobby goes back to the style he was developing. This was a very horny and carnal movie.

In terms of how much the films resonated with me so far, I would say:
