I haven't seen the movie yet, but aren't there also flashbacks with the D. rex from decades ago when it wasn't fully grown yet, which could possibly explain this?
Or are both shots the present day version of it?

It's some of the best dinosaur action in the series, but you won't care about any of the characters.

If you can stomach the JW sequels you’ll enjoy this movie. It’s dumb Dino action with very little in terms of actually story or characters.

I can't enjoy dino attack scenes if they make no sense and dinos wouldn't behave this way and humans wouldn't behave that way when attacked.

Not entirely true, you spend the entire movie with discount Pedro pascal as a main character. You know it would have been him if they could afford him.

Obvious answer: there's 2 D-Rexes. A big one, and an even biggerer one.

Now, seriously. I was expecting this monster to be a deranged spaz, like he suffered from neurological problems, or physical pain from its deformities, something, but he behaves no different from a T-Rex.

It’s a yawn-inducing cashgrab. Within the first 10 minutes you can pretty much predict the entire movie. The story is a super cliche science-vs-capitalism conflict everyone’s seen dozens of times. The characters are all stale archetypes. You’ve got your girlboss, your worldly explorer, your goofy stoner, your nerd, and your White male pharma executive who’s evil incarnate. The final boss dino shows up in the last 15 minutes and does almost nothing. Add the horrendous, constant product placement and you’ve got a soulless corporate product designed only to give Universal more merch to sell at its theme parks.

I personally liked it better than Dominion. Sure, that doesn't means much, and the movie is not good by any means, but if you want to see prehistoric animals attacking people you won't be disappointed. It's kinda like Jurassic Park 3 but with a bigger roster of animals rather than just the Spinosaurus/Velociraptor taking most of the screentime, and imo it manages to use the dinosaurs better than Dominion, that basically threw random animals to your face in quick succession and barely let them be memorable. In Rebirth pretty much all the dinos have their time to shine and their scenes feel memorable, especially the T. rex and the Mosasaurus/Spinosaurus gang. Ironically the mutants end up feeling the most disappointing part of the movie, since they're just there and besides their deformed appearence they don't feel much different from any predatory dinosaur from the previous movie. Heck, Beluga rex doesn't even has a long climatic confrontation and simply leaves to his turf after the main characters escape the island.
Mind you, like I said before it's not a good movie, but if you want to watch it to have fun dinosaur scenes go ahead and watch it.

great dino designs by talented concept artists and vfx animators, good direction by the always solid Gareth Edwards, music is fine, script is quite simple, yeah, but has a lot of nods to Chricton's ideas and unused stuff from the original JP movie and kids are not annoying. Fun dino summer movie
