>>212447599More to the point of this, are there ANY lmao movies where they don't turn them into slasher villains? Obviously Communion, but other than that there seems to be no lore accurate movie about creepy alien intrusions in the night and the paranoid psychosis it drives their victims to.
>>212447698I didn't include The UFO Incident this time
because it's technically not horror.
You want to see a really weird one some time there's Mysterious Two. UFO cult rather than typical ayys though.
Both are made-for-TV.
>>212447698there's one I want to recommend but I think knowing there are aliens is a spoiler. also it's more of a disaster thriller.
>>212448523Yeah, JEJ was really good in UFO Incident. I'll check out Mysterious Two, thank you.
>>212448609Could you post it in a spoiler please? I understand it would ruin the film to know but on the other hand the only other scenario is for me to randomly come across it by happenstance.
>>212448795Oh wow, thanks. That's like the one Cage kino I had been meaning to watch and absolutely forgotten about. That not only doesn't ruin the movie for me, it makes it more interesting.
>>212448773Was just looking and I see there's a 26 ep. set of Unsolved Mysteries with just the ayy-related stuff. I remember some of those could be pretty creepy.
I can't believe this is /hor/'s favorite horror of 2025
What happened to this general?
>>212450189Oh wow I didn't realize there were that many. I only vividly remember one in particular where some man was talking about how they abducted him "and did something to my chest." For whatever reason that really frightened me as a kid and that particular part has always stood out.

Last night I watched X: The Man With the X-Ray Eyes. Apparently it used to be shown as a double feature with Dementia 13, so I'll be watching that one tonight
>>212454425Let me know how Dementia 13 is. Am curious about it, but get the impression it's just a Psycho rip-off.

Whatโs the best horror of the 2020s so far? And how does it compare to goats like The Thing?
>>212455585Smile (2022) is the best so far, and it's still only second to The Thing. Ironically had the effects team from the 2011 remake, so it's more or less the spiritual successor.

ngl, aussies fucking scare me
>>212455807for real though, how did they do that? didn't look CGI, didn't look like a stunt double. Did they actually run over an old lady?
>>212455742I believe the same team went on to make Harbinger Down after their effects got removed from the 2011 thing. No idea of the film is any good but it's kind of interesting.
>>212456226>No idea of the film is any goodIt's not, it sucks worse than The Thing remake. Those guys make some great effects though when they're not covering them with CGI later.

Just watched The Blair Witch Project for the first time in more than two decades. It was bit boring. I don't remember it being this uninteresting. Maybe I watched too much found footage movie. Going to watch the two remaining movies in the franchise next. Hope they're good.

>>212446305 (OP)Finally watched Beezel, a lot of recs for it back when it came out. Mixed bag. I think the framing for the movie was interesting, having it effectively be an anthology without being too disconnected which is the problem with most anthologies. It still had the problem of one shitty arc bringing down the whole, though. The intro, documentary arc and nursing arc were great. The final millenial youtuber arc with the faggot husband and his underfucked wife was so boring and gay it killed the movie. Dropped it right into the dumpster. What were they thinking?
>>212455585Possessor is one of my favorites.
>>212463996Probably yeah. What a fucking fraud. You can tell he isn't interested in it as well, see his criterion picks.
>>212465038Good pick. Cronenspawns best and I hope he makes more.
>>212464508Yeah it's a bummer the final part wasn't strong. For one, the director cast his wife for the final section. But the film was original just a short film which was the middle part iirc. And on the strength of those they expanded it.
It's a good debut at least, I hope they make another one with proper funding.
>>212465363I think he has potential. Just needs to stay more focused.
>For one, the director cast his wife for the final section. But she showed booba...
>>212465283Wrong.
His best film is Antiviral starring Sarah Gadon
>>212465238i watched his episode of directors on directors. you can tell he wants to be an beloved indie darling like Lanthimos
>>212465468They didn't really commit to the booba, probably were so short on filming time they were like eh fuck it leave it in.
But yeah I'm hoping the middle wasn't a fluke because it was pretty spooky.
>>212463651The sequel was waaay better, until the ending. imo 2 has better pacing, better lead and itโs shot way better and doesnโt have nearly as many cheap jump scares. Overall though I donโt know if I like it more because the ending is so disappointing and annoying, I was looking forward to the nurses plan. Despite Smile 1 suffering from a botched finale too (once the monster shows up in the house) overall I think itโs more satisfying
Imo 2 got the ending it did only because the director is desperate to turn this into a franchise
Legend has it that it was written by the dark ones.
Necronomicom Ex Mortis. Roughly translated, Book of the Dead.
The book served as a passageway to the evil worlds beyond.
It was written long ago.... when the seas ran red with blood.
It was this blood that was used to ink the book.
In the year 1300 A.D., the book disappeared.

The knife chewing was so fucked, it made me squirm in my seat so bad that a pair of guys walking out of the cinema with me talked to me about it lol. The rest of the film was fine but man, that knife scene reminded me of that Dario Argento quote where it was something like depicting stubbing your toe is more impactful than flat out dismemberment because you know how it feels and that boy eating that knife vertically was so fucked

>>212471737Horses for courses.
>>212471734Weird, for me the table scene was way worse. And normally teeth on metal makes me cringe.
>>212471829i thought the set and premise was an absolute 10/10 but the script and presentation was just so terrible. With everyone on the true crime and found footage thing these days you'd think the writers would deliver what everyones asking for but it just fell flat with every idea it had. Its not an outright terrible product either its just forgettable which i think is worse. Just scratch out the whole wife plotline for the MC and be as straight edge with the premise as possible. God only knows how badly i wanted it to be good
>>212471661As long as we're locking in our horror milfs, I'll take Charlotte Rampling in Angel Heart
>>212471928Yeah, the premise was gold, but the writer/director didn't have the talent to really make use of it, and most of the cast didn't give a shit and just spoke like typical millennials instead of trying to capture a 70s feel.
>>212471901the table scene was pretty fucked too now that you bring it up, its just the knife chewing scene came out of nowhere and the closeups and the sounds and sights, oh my god. Thats a good webm weapon right there if someone wanted to clip that. Made me fucking scream and look away it was great. The rest of the film to me was creepy but didn't reach that same high but it was still excellent, its way better than i expected out of the RackaRacka boys
>>212471942god i want to bed a milf at least once in my life, and horror movie ones always hit that sweet spot for me aesthetically speaking
>>212471460>TERF islandI wish your chud country had an actual leftist political party.
>>212454515>>212455447It's definitely weak for a Francis Ford Coppola movie, but it sounds like he wasn't given much to work with. Compared to plenty of low budget horrors I've seen, it's not bad. Plot is a bit typical and derivative, but it looks pretty nice and develops some atmosphere. Not one you'd give as a general recommendation, but I think most dedicated horror fans would enjoy this one.
>>212471974an interesting discussion i find about remakes is that the films that get a remake these days are based on already successful films because of brand recognition when its rereleased, whereas in reality successful remakes as were done in the 1980s were based on films that were shit but could be improved upon. I saw the film They Shoot Horses Dont They? 1970 with Jane Fonda and i thought the premise in that film was excellent, to cover depression era dance marathons running into the thousands of hours, it reminded me of the book The Running Man by Richard Bachman (Stephen King) in a way. I fucking hated the cop-out ending of They Shoot Horses because i saw so much more potential in the film than what was delivered. Likewise i can already see someone else remaking the concept of Late Night with the Devil but making it x10 better which is how successful remakes are made

>>212477450Never seen this but the poster made me immediately think of Battle Royale.
>>212471011What does "believe women" even mean? Despite them lying. It's a given that you should believe the truth so as long as a woman is telling the truth she should be believed, but because she's telling the truth and not just because she's a woman. Saying "believe women" suggests you should believe women even if they're lying.
>>212448773I wonder, how many people here immediately thought of *that* one porn video with the grey alien chick upon seeing this?
>>212469487Possessor is indeed Cronenberg Jr's best. I can see why others might like his other two more but Possessor is the best film.

>>212477979>These are the facts, as 74-year-old David Huggins sees them: He encountered his first aliens at age eight. He lost his virginity to a female extraterrestrial at age 17. Heโs fathered a clan of hybrid alien-human babies. And these otherworldly beings have given him permission to paint it all.
>>212477450of course
webm related: not a great movie either, but it's genuinely funny and enthusiasming
suicide club isn't good, though
>>212476966I've noticed a lot of misspelling in OPs lately. Things like not pluralising words properly, or pluralising words that don't need to be, or grammatical mistakes where they use verbs or prepositions like "was" and "get' and "are" wrong.
>>212478078I'd watch a film adaption starring picrel. Communion 2?
>>212478055Remember that one anon who'd say gore horror isn't horror but actually another subgenre called the gross-out?
>>212477973i remember a dream i had once where i tore open my hand on a towball while mounting a trailer and smelling the stench, the miasma of death waft from my wound. i picked at the cut and saw my flesh was a greenish grey under my skin and i decided to cut my arm up to desleeve myself only to find that i was rotting from the inside out, maggots and all. I cut off my forearm down to the elbow 'ball' and i tripped onto horse hair on the pavement and i could feel the hair being used to cut into my bone as i tried to pick it out like a hot wire through foam. Feeling that youre rotting from the inside out is terrifying and they even fucked that up by using just earthworms

I fucking knew it was worth waiting.
>>212478268Not in such autistically specific way. How many other ppl do you know that say that there's a genre called the gross-out?
>>212478313>>212478313I don't think so, it was another guy.. He'd make a lot of anons seethe by going on an on about it. I assume 80s cock lodge is still around and could be NPM
>>212478366I hope that's the version we get with the Steelbook.
>>212478369>I assume 80s cock lodge is still around and could be NPMNah, different posting styles. 80s cock lodge left a while back:

NPM may have been the gross-out guy though. He's mentally a child and hates Terrifier so it checks out.
>>212478522There's a guy who whines about 80s movies that sounds like NPM.
The gross-out anon seemed very one-note but earnest in his oddball convictions
>>212478369There is a genre called gross-out but it's usually attributed to comedy movies where the reaction comes from the chock value. Gross-out horror makes perfect sense under the same premise.
>>212478190I don't get the joke
>>212479567Not a joke. There was an anon like 2 years or so ago who'd get into lengthty discussions arguing that movies w/ gore are not horror but something he labelled gross-out movies. It would go on and on for several threads
>>212479603Yeah, very one-note like you said.
>>212478366Based. I'm not even bothering with it until I can watch this version.
>>212477479Is the movie as garbage as that thread?
>>212471734>>212471901The part that made me flinch the most was the ultra-high *eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee* pitch sound that was so sharp it could slice diamonds somewhere halfway in the movie. Raised my tinnitus level to a solid 11. Any director who still uses that high pitch trope should seriously KYS
QUICK, what's the last horror you watched?

>>212479835>Your inner ear is a tiny bunny riding a snailcute :3
>>212478055>couldn't even do real maggots,That might be a limiting the smell & timing issue. You have to have rotting flesh for the maggots to eat, and a as a bonus, if you keep the rotting flesh and maggots waiting too long, they become bugs or die off, so you've just kept rotting meat around for nothing

It also seems the guy who has a cursed grandma got fucked by the creature but I'm unsure why
