I remember this guy was hyping up Batman v. Superman. On principle I do not trust anyone who thought that movie was good on anything related to movies ever. MoS I didn't care for but see why people would praise it but someone who likes Batman v. Superman and thinks it's genuinely good must live in some alternate reality to my own that only partially crosses over enough for us to communicate.

Man of Steel was meant to be its own trilogy with slight references to it being set in the same world as Nolan's Batman but never, ever crossing over. Cavill's Superman in MoS bears no resemblance to the nearly-mute brute in BvS.

It's good when it has remnant of its MoS/Nolan influence and I actually think the Lex Luthor scenes are written well. But I hate Ben's Batman for how it does not mesh well at all with Cavill's Superman take and how that was clearly in the same vein as Nolan's Batman. Ben's Batman is too comic booky to a fault within the movie he's in. The Robin suit was ill-advised to show.

I don't really have a solid defined top 5 since my preferences change with time, but I guess off the top of my head movies I really like and come back to a lot are Terminator 2, Nightcrawler, Back to the Future, Collateral and Fury Road. It was clear that MoS was in the same aesthetical and meta reality as TDK trilogy but they were never supposed to crossover. That's why MOS is the movie that it is, why it has a Hans Zimmer score and why it cuts to the title card at the end just like the Nolan films. It was Nolan's idea to make MOS the way it was otherwise they would've made some generic crap like Green Lantern out of Superman. Bale would've returned but he felt lowballed despite 50 mil offered.
