This movie is essentially competing with Man of Steel, which made $670m in 2013. this movie needs to make $924m (accounting for inflation from 2013) to tie Man of Steel. Most tracking and projections are currently giving it around a $120m "optimistic" opening, so $100m or less realistic opening, and modern movies tend to fall off hard after the opening weekend unless they're genuinely very good and get widespread word of mouth, which we already know from the trailers and early reviews that this aint it. you can cope with it, accept it, delude yourself, it doesn't matter. This movie is going to "fail to meet expectations" to say the least and likely put an end to the Gunnverse, and Superman as a character is best case scenario going to be bumped back down to CW television shows for teenagers and adult children and remain there indefinitely.
