>>212494281>>212494574Whiskey nerd and ex bartender here. Bulleit is not great. It's not the worst, but it's very overpriced and only propped up by their advertising campaign. If you blind taste it against other bourbons or ryes, you'll notice an unpleasant acrid finish to it.
It's always a little eye roll inducing when some fucking "guy's guy" proclaims they only drink Bulleit.
I disagree with
>>212494574 in that there are things to legitimately enjoy in whiskey and whisky. The problem is that a lot of people like the image of being a whisk(e)y drinker more than they actually enjoy the whisk(e)y itself and don't really have the palate to distinguish between what they like and what they don't. They drink whatever people tell them is good, and they drink it in a way that they think makes them real men.
I can't count the number of times some fucking idiot had demanded to drink cask strength booze neat (no ice, no water for those who don't know). It's because they're under the impression that's how "real men" drink booze, but cask strength whisk(e)y is intended to be diluted. How much you dilute it and how you do it is up to you according to taste. They don't water it down for you because you can temper it how you want, but it DOES need tempering. Otherwise it just tastes like burning. The dickheads that drink it straight are either trying to get fucked up (in which case, there are cheaper ways to do that), or they're trying to prove how manly they are (in which case, they're just shouting to anyone who knows anything about booze that they're an insecure retard).
