Part of the appeal of hollywood actors is their relatability. The entertainment business is selling the dream that someone not too different than you could be a star. AI actors take away that sense of proximity.

It won't matter as greedy studio heads will still prefer not paying actors and audiences will gradually become accustomed to the increased viewer interactivity AI facilitates. It's a really shit time to be a writer/Director/actor and it's only going to get worse.

How many boards are on this site where autists are obsessed with cartoon chicks? Even the adult human ones are creepy. I'll stick to 4channel thanks.

It will happen via single developers who can't be bullied off.

The first person to try it on a serious basis will have to face any number of hurtles, including:
> no fill would be qualified for Academy Awards
> no hollywood union members would be allowed to participate
> the entertainment media, who relies on the studios for their livelihood, will ban all ads or articles about the first movies
> even if the characters are designed from scratch, look for at least a few lawsuits claiming likeness infringement

All this will stop most producers. But eventually there will be a film that is too good (and makes too much money OUTSIDE the established system) to ignore. Then it will be game on, and all the studios will follow, firing most of their staff

Just the idea of celebrity gossip ending forever soon just ignited a wildfire of actual hope for the future in a part of my soul that’s been frozen for decades.

Just think of all the people who’s lives are completely and totally empty no longer having anything to distract them from that. Some will fill the void with ai content but the core of celebrity obsession is the idea they’re real.

… bruh every successful movie star has been larger than life, not reliable. Shit you’re dumb. Social media basically killed the concept by letting them reveal they’re all retarded

I can envision a two-tier society where the NPC masses solely consume AI generated music, movies, literature, and television; while the patrician minority are the only ones to make and watch human media

No new movie is worth watching so there's already no need for actors anymore.

A version that felt very plausible to me but never really touched on elsewhere ("Her" had elements of it, I guess) is William Gibson's Rei Toei
The celebrity who actually knows everybody, individually. She remembers your birthday, she wrote a song just for you. Feeling lonely? No, she won't be your gf, she treasures your friendship too much for that - but it just so happens that she knows the person that's psychologically perfect for you, because after all she knows all of the most intimate secrets of her tens of millions of fans. She'll even sing at your wedding, and give a heartfelt speech about how special you and your fiance are to her! She has so many unique and funny stories about the wonderful experiences you've shared with her.

What should you wear? Where should you eat? She has all the best suggestions, and it's only a petty coincidence that those tend to closely match her corporate sponsors. I mean, it's not like she'd ever steer you wrong and suggest something you wouldn't like - after all, she has a very diverse set of sponsors, and knows your tastes intimately. Go to a concert with 70,000 other people to see her? You might notice her appearance or performance is a little off because she's in a "median group consensus" mode, but that split second when she catches your eye in the crowd and winks at you, she really did recognize you.

Your best friend, Taylor Swift. Your own personal Jesus.
