The general consensus is that you should start with a less great season because if you like that you'll enjoy the best seasons that much more.

But if you want to hop straight into a good season BB10 and BB20 are good starts. BB12 is pretty fun too. BB10 is really the start of "modern" big brother. BB14 and BB15 are good too, but I wouldn't watch 14 as my first season, it has returnees and you'll want some background info before you see them (specifically BB10 and BB12, you can go back and watch BB7 too but it's definitely dated compared to some other seasons).

So yeah. Maybe start with BB12, BB15 or BB7. Move to BB10 and BB20, and you can watch BB14 too.

The HGs get too rowdy/angry when production gives them a lot of alcohol, from time to time. So they limit it unfortunately. They definitely should give them 3-4 drinks per person per day though, or have 1 designated night where people can get modestly drunk if they want.

Drinking works easily on over-produced reality slop, but when you're confining people to a house with ultra bright bulbs for 90ish days with limited outside access giving them too much alcohol can lead to some bad behaviors, like people physically hurting each other and destroying shit around the house.

It would probably be different if they had a camera crew inside the house that could break up fights but that would ruin the fun.
