I was genuinely surprised and concerned after the fact that this was not the authorial intent at all, and we were supposed to unironically support the protagonists in their quest to kill themselves and become magical girls that live in a TV show

It's like American Psycho if Bret Easton Ellis and Mary Harron's point was sincerely "But you should try to be this based"
