Reminder that the Iron Giant/Incredibles guy didn't come up with this movie. He just replaced the original director less than 2 years before it premiered.
>Huh? Huh!? Oh, come on! You gotta admit, this is cool! Just like a movie! The robot will emerge dramatically, do some damage. Throngs of screaming people! And just when all hope is lost, Syndrome will save the day! I’ll be a bigger hero than you ever were. >You mean, you killed off real heroes so that you could PRETEND TO BE ONE?! >Oh, I’m real. Real enough to defeat you. And I did it without your precious gifts, your oh-so-special powers. I’ll give them heroics. I’ll give them the most spectacular heroics anyone’s ever seen! And when I’m old and I’ve had my fun, I’ll sell my inventions so that everyone can be superheroes. Everyone can be a super! And when everyone’s super.... no one will be.

There's no reasonable argument against this. It's just WAHHH I WANT TO BE A SPECIAL SNOWFLAKE CAPITALISM BAD!
I don't get the praise. Maybe I would if it wasn't revealed at the end that the giant survived the missile (which prevents the movie from being a poignant and mature story)

That’s a meaningless criticism. Every piece of media is a pastiche of the creators inspirations. >>212531438
2 years is a long ass time to leave your mark on a film
It's so obvious that Bird didn't come up with the concept of Ratatouille. No offense to his fanbase, but I don't think he is capable of coming up with a concept like that.

It's pretty interesting how Pixar never allowed Brad Bird to conceive another movie for them again. They asked him to take over the reigns of Ratatouille after the original director found himself struggling with it, but nothing else. Who knows, maybe Pixar is aware that Bird created something that just doesn't fit with the studio's identity.

The more pressing question is who could possibly play Helen?
We're talking fat-assed actresses here. Only the most prodigious-posteriors can apply.
Bryce Howard is an obvious shoe-in, given the world-renowned rotundity of her rear, but she's honestly just too much of a brainless bimbo.

Maybe it is simply just the evergreen classic - 'he was difficult to work with'
This simple trick allows you to blacklist succesful directors after one mediocre performance, while retards who keep making bombs keep getting jobs.
