Robocop 2
Robocop 2

What movie/show did you see as a kid that traumatized you for a bit? For me, it was Robocop 2. Lots of involuntary surgery in that movie that made me avoid body horror flicks. Duffy getting vivisected, the Robocop replacements ripping their face plates off, Cain's severed brain looking at his decapitated head while the doctors talk about him like he isn't there. Lots to throw at a 9 year old.

I used to watch Toy Story daily when i was a kid, then my older cousins showed me Child's Play.
Had to throw out every damn toy with a face on it.

Return of the Living Dead 2, although more "kiddy" than the first, was still really fucking scary

The new Robocop failure scene is the funniest scene in the movie. I always forget that most kids didn't get semi-desensitized to this type of thing at an early age. For me it was the old lady getting killed by the basketball in Deadly Friend, but stuff like Freddy Kruger I just thought was funny.

Several. I was (and am) a total pussy. But I think especially of the Evil Dead.

One weekend when I was like 12/13 or so, mom visited grandma by herself or something, so it was just dad and me. Dad rented the Evil Dead, and explained that it was very violent, but that it was so over-the-top that it was meant to be funny in a way. The VHS tape itself looked threatening. Not the official label, it was just "EVIL DEAD" written in marker on a label by a store employee. Once Hal Delrich starts hacking her up I noped out of the room for about 20 minutes and went upstairs to watch the muppets while dad kept watching. I came back down to watch the finale and that stuck with me too. I never sat down and watched the film all the way through until years later.

Years later, at college, my roommate was out and I had the place to myself. I borrowed a DVD from the college library, smoked a joint (one of the last of the few dozen times I used marijuana, if not the last), and watched it under the influence. That time, I was particularly impressed with the brunette's scream when Hal Delrich stabs her in the back. I now regard it as the best scream in horror film history, it's this lovingly produced piece of 80s sound, sounds like anguish but the whole scene also plays like very powerful nasty shit has just been set loose and now it's pissed off. I've never understood what people see in the immediate sequel, the original is so much better in every way.

Willy Wonka, Gremlins and The Neverending Story also disturbed me at various points.

same, actually the whole concept since the original gave me the creeps as a kid, but robocop 2 took it up a notch; another thing that troubled me was how the bad guy was completely taken by his drug addiction making him controllable as a robot

I couldn't have been any older than 4. My parents had put me to bed, and they were watching a movie downstairs. Sometimes I would sneak out of my room and hide and try to watch the stuff they were watching.
This night they were watching the exorcist on HBO, and all I remember was peeking out from behind the couch during the pea-soup scene and just losing my shit.
The Exorcist, the Fly, and Inner Space convinced my little kid brain that stomach acid was half xenomorph blood and half satan juice and every time I got sick and barfed as a kid I was a massive bitch about it.

>toxic waste scene happens
>mom makes me cover my eyes

Also the scene in the terminator when arnold is doing surgery in the bathroom and cuts out his biological eye

Woke up too early for Saturday morning cartoons and caught the very beginning of Killer Klowns from Outer Space. Watched it all the way through with increasing terror but I was too little to think of turning the TV off.

The "toilet creature" from the x-files was the spookiest episode I watched as a kid. It had to do with the ambience the show had and the plot though.

The real trauma was the realization and reason why I avoid scenes like this in film anymore.
The voice in my head telling me I could do better.

Realistically its so they didn't have to make a fake chest that they slice open which would have probably got the movie an X rating.

I could name a ton of movies from when I was a little kid in the early 80's. But when I was about 14 or so I was flipping channels and holy shit, a John Candy movie I'd never heard of? With Chevy Chase? And Demi Moore? Ha ha, what the fuck is Dan Akroyd wearing? And is that Andrwe Dice Clay? Holy shit why have I never heard of this moaaAAAAAAAHHHH WHAT THE FUCK!?!

Seriously man this scene looks like it was cut out of a particularly twisted and depraved horror movie. I doubt it would have affected me so much if I'd caught the movie from the beginning but I flipped over right as this was starting. Dan Akroyd is one demented fuck.

imagine if fluke-boy and maz kanada had a baby, and ugly baby with a butthole mouth and butthole eyes.
I haven't seen this episode since it first aired, but I feel like I was bothered most by a giant liver fluke plopping out of someone's body in the shower.

Scrapyard in brave little toaster.
Some of the Hexxus parts of fern gully(mostly him just being an invincible smoke ghost)
Rockadoodle when the farm is flooding and the birds are circling the animals waiting for them to die.(they can scare them with flashlights but were low on batteries)
Some parts of fievel goes west.
The rescuers, with the little girl forced to go down into a flooding pit with skeletons in it.

In terms of actual live action it was mostly doctor who. There was some complex where people were getting pulled into a small hole in the wall. Some mining operation in england which drilled too deep and turned everyone into heat zombies. There was ep with maybe werewolves and the damsel had to stay in a salt circle or something. Lots of just 'we're surrounded by things we can't kill or stop and have to pray we can hide/escape' tension moments.

When I was a kid I was afraid of ants because of some show I'd seen where there were these rampaging army ants in the jungle that overran and killed anything in their path. I couldn't remember what the show actually was until last year when I watched a rerun of an episode of Macgyver called "Trumbo's World" where they're fighting off army ants. Macgyver had been my hero when I was a kid so it fit as did the details I remembered like them trying to kill the ants with fire and causing a flood as well as the image of people getting covered in ants and killed by thousands of bites.
