>>212554781I know. Iโve tried giving The Sopranos a shot a couple of times, but I just couldnโt get past the first few episodes. The whole Italian mob setting just doesnโt appeal to me it feels overdone and uninteresting. The therapy scenes, which I know are a big part of the showโs identity, came off as cringey and a bit forced to me rather than insightful or engaging. The family drama didnโt really draw me in either. Honestly, Iโve already seen similar dynamics play out in games like GTA V, and in countless other shows that were clearly influenced by The Sopranos. Thatโs probably part of the problem: Iโve consumed so much media shaped by it that going back to the original just doesnโt feel fresh or intriguing anymore. Itโs like Iโve already seen the echoes so many times that the source has lost its impact.
Maybe if Iโd watched it when it originally aired or even just a few years earlier, it would have hit differently. Also, to be completely honest, I didnโt find the acting all that compelling in the early episodes none of the performances really hooked me.
Mad Men on the other hand, has setting and dialogues, as well as actors. It's much more interesting and unique than le italian mobster drama. Fuck that.
