Was this scene a deliberate dig at MoS? Superman is constantly keeping the dragon from crashing into buildings, and makes sure to save absolutely everything in its path (even animals).
Was it a criticism of Snyderman, who would have intentionally punched the dragon through each building in Metropolis, regardless of the thousands of innocents who would be killed?

it's not a criticism. That's literally what Superman is supposed to do. You only think it's a criticism because Snyder got literally everything wrong about the character.

When does this ever happen in Man of Steel?
The most Superman ever does is drag Zod's face across the side of a building and push him into a grain silo because he's about to kill his mother

he does get thrown threw a billion buildings and just kind of abandons everyone to their fate as he chases after Zod while building fall on top of them, though he doesn't actually punch through any buildings himself

When he flies down to have a punch off with Zod while Zod is comically running on all fours up the building, when they strike each other it destroys the entire skyscraper kek, and Superman just flies off while debris rains down on the streets below.

Rewatching this scene is actually unintentionally hilarious.

No, that's just how Superman is supposed to behave. That Snyderman doesn't just shows how little Snyder understands or appreciates the character and how fucking stupid every single person who defends those shitty flicks is.

Yes. I know they wanted the DCEU to fail from the start but Snyder didn't help with Batman having a murdemobile and the destruction caused by the battle between doomsday and superman's fight (thank god they all left their homes for casino night, right?).

Was Donner also trying to dig at Snyder by having Superman freak out that people were in danger in his fight with Zod and then decide to lure him away to fight him somewhere less populated?

Snyder's version was heavily based on Byrnes; and Dini's takes on Superman, with a dash of Wade's Birthright and Johns' Secret Origins in and is very accurate to those versions. Gunn's is heavily based on Morrison, Waid's current Superman comics and a bit of Dan Jurgens and is accurate to those versions.

Believing there is a single "comics" version of Superman is delusional.

If anything Gunn's feels more like a blend between Byrne, Morrison, while using the 2nd half of Birthright's plot, what with Superman more or less rejecting his Kryptonian heritage and choosing to view himself as human first. Snyder's Superman still called Krypton "his world" even though he ultimately chose Earth before it.

Not that Anon but I'm not really sure where he's getting that it's "heavily" based on Byrne's. Yeah there's some superficial stuff, the birthing pod, Lois having red hair, Superman killing Zod (though it's an alternate universe Zod in Byrne's), but Byrne's Superman wasn't nearly as dour, and the key thing of Byrne's Superman was that he was just a human guy who happened to have powers. People actually complained at the time that the dreaded Mahvel writer as turning Superman into Spider-Man by having him so heavily prioritize his human side over his Kryptonian one.

The entire point of the birthing pod for Byrne was to make it so that Superman was born on Earth, and thus not an alien immigrant. Byrne's Superman is pretty human and emotional, and never as dour as Snyder's. And while Snyder's chooses Earth over Krypton, he's far more tied to it than Byrne's ever was, still calling it "my planet" in BvS.

Batman v Superman is awful but the opening scene is pretty good. It accurately reflects how Man of Steel felt like the climax of an alien invasion apocalypse rather than a fun, exciting superhero showdown.
Anonymous No.212567113
>>212565980
Funniest thing is the destruction Superman is utterly heedless off is the most amusing thing about the fight because Superman and Zod trading blows endlessly is boring as fuck because neither takes a lick of damage. Who gives a shit if Superman unleashes some sick combo on Zod when it does fuck all to harm him and vice versa? The Batman v Superman fight wasn't that amazing but it is the most engaging fight we ever saw Cavill Superman in because he and his foe were actually fucking each other up

Felt like it was a retroactive addition in response to the backlash Man of Steel got, because the end of Man of Steel is Superman casually telling the general not to spy on him, and that he's as much of a good ol' American boy as they come, while the female lieutenant quips that he's kind of hot, and then this optimistic lighthearted tone of him joining the Planet as Clark Kent.

no, and its away too silly how the citizens of metropolis dont care about the city being constantly attacked, and no, thats not like comic books, citizens are always scared and running away from danger, but in the movie they literally dont care, even the little girl that superman saves is right next to that monster but doesn't even look at it, while there are super heroes trying to contain it she just keeps playing on the ground.
