>>212589922 (OP) I love the movie, but it is reddit. It's just really comfy and well paced. I can watch it all any time it's on and not be bored. It's rare unless it's an action/martial arts movie.

>>212589922 (OP) yeah, i dropped the book once it switched to what was happening on earth like halfway through. was extremely reddit, though.
movie is ok considering what they had to work with. book is the definition of reddit front to back, some of the most cringe shit ive ever fucking read. hilariously, the geek loser author writes every one of his geek loser books exactly the same, and his newest one project hail mary is just as reddit / deus ex machina riddled garbage where the author explains pseudoscientific rationalizations for why something happened the whole time. the dialogue is worse than fanfic tier every time it occurs and the narrator voice / verbage makes me want to commit crimes in the author's home.
>>212591028 It's amazing how every one of his characters speak like a quipping redditor. It's like he doesn't bother giving them a unique voice/persona.

Donald Glover's magic negro was pretty fucking bad. Surely this concept would have occurred to them and they didn't need le zany quirky chungus to burst in at the 11th hour?
>>212591195 >Surely this concept would have occurred to them The gravity assist is something NASA routinely does. It would've literally been the first solution that they would have thought of.
In the book they joke about him being an incel and say "lets just leave him he has no woman waiting for him back home rofl"

>>212590029 Correct. I think I only like it because my boy likes the astronaut themes. Damon is not an astronaut. Has he done anything well besides Borne since Ripley?
>>212592775 The film has a good pace and a good ensemble of actors. The strange part of the film is all this mythology surrounding the mass, like a kind of church of science that you absolutely must go to. It's funny how everyone around the world is paying attention to what NASA says or does.

I like the survival aspect of the movie but stuff like "i have to science the shit out of this" makes me cringe
>its a story about a man becoming completely isolated and only having a limited amount of media, vlogs, and occasional messages from earth outside of the struggle to survive
