Not OP, but I've seen it and he's not wrong. It's awful, Superman acts like a zoomer teen in every seen, gets repeatedly beaten up, spends a lot of time shouting and being over-emotional, and ultimately gets saved by a dog they kept forcing in but was just annoying. It's like James Gunn has no idea who or what Superman is.

Then there's the actual film, where Superman is the side-kick to a bunch of worse heroes, particularly one that nobody had even heard of before (Mr Terrific). Tons of stupid attempts at humour that fall flat, a story that's straight out of The Boys comic, characters desperately trying to replicate The Suicide Squad (and they weren't even interesting either). It was always going to fail, just no one expected it to fail this badly.

It's weird how no one got it right but him. He treated Superman with such incredible sincerity, didn't try to shove a political message down your throats (which is amusing because o how unsubtle Donner was about shoving his political statements into the Lethal Weapon sequels) or need a ton of death and carnage to be entertaining.
