It's weird how no one got it right but him. He treated Superman with such incredible sincerity, didn't try to shove a political message down your throats or need a ton of death and carnage to be entertaining. Even if he did have some dopey humor, he did the character justice in a way no other live action adaptation comes close to.

Superman and Superman II (both versions) did it better, and Donner's Superman is the most comic accurate. I'd argue that even Singer's Superman was truer to the source material, the problem is it just lacked a coherent plot.
