well as a leader you shouldn't have to explain your plan to your subordinates. their only worry should be to execute what they are told when they are told to.
however she wasn't leading a disciplined military she was in charge of "le resistance" so she was a dumb leader for not understanding her own crew.

Is this the one where it turns out you can destroy everything just by engaging your hyperdrive nearby
Like would that have worked on the death star? Just have one X-wing jump to light speed in front of it?
Would that work on a planet? Why didn't anyone else know this tactic or perform it?

>someone in charge because of a decapitation strike doesn’t have to take basic precautions so that her subordinates know what go do if she’s killed
>someone in charge doesn’t have to tell her subordinates her plans when she needs them to effectively carry out orders that relate to them
Remember the briefings in each of the OT scenes? If Holdo had been in charge, they wouldn’t have mentioned why the X Wings went on a seemingly suicidal French run to shoot a single target in ANH, why the transports flew near star destroyers in ESB, or why they had to deploy a strike force in RoTJ. Then she’d throw a tantrum at Wedge for not blindly wanting to get himself killed.
Darth fucking Vader was more willing to explain his reasoning to his underlings than her. That’s how shit a leader she was.

Which is funny because the kids and faggots these days defended her. Vader, who actually fought in and survived a galactic war, knew that you need to explain why you are making your decisions to those directly under your command so they can better enforce it.

Almost everything wrong with Ep.8 could have been fixed if they'd added a single brief scene where the bridge crew suspect that the Imperials were able to track them because of a spy among them. With that little change, this bitch would have had a good reason to keep her plan secret, and the others would have had all the more reason to suspect she was the traitor.

Disagree because the most disciplined military force would have already executed every last soldier to ever question authority and would immediately shoot the first soldier that got out of line for any reason.
It's the reason we used to be able to get men to march shoulder to shoulder at people firing at them. Your own leadership was more dangerous than anything the enemy could field and you understood that disobeying meant immediate death.

This is pseud shit and I'm tired of seeing it.
Anyone who has successfully led men in any role of responsibility where stuff is on the line - be it civilian or military - knows that ideally even the most retarded person on your team has a basic gist of the 'why'. This improves efficacy AND allows your men to seize the initiative when it appears because they actually have some idea what the fucking point of the operation is.
Demanding blind obedience unto what appears like complete failure is the most insectoid shit I've ever seen.

I'd call it subhuman but even the squid people know how to lead better than this bitch.

It reminds me of a time I sat in on a hiring meeting, they had this ex military guy bring up what they taught him of leadership in the military. This HR cunt dismissed military leadership as just yelling at people. That's who holo was, portrayed as good from someone who was like that. and that's all hollywood is, old geriactrics ex hippies who think themselves still rebels and hr hoes.

So this is actually part of the the US military has done so well in direct conflict with enemy combatants. Older traditional militaries would heavily compartmentalize, with everyone having a single specific role that they would not ever step out of, and this includes leadership. The US military on the other hand has almost everyone receiving some level of leadership training and information on what is happening so that they can adapt quickly if critical personnel are taken out.

Exactly. And it works.
The only place the bugmen model of leadership 'works' is where either the chance or impact of failure is next to nothing. This is why it's common in places like retail and not in anything where there are real consequences to shit not getting done.

I'm not sure if this explanation I have is pure head cannon or the actual reasoning, and the writers for episode 8 are retards but here is my attempt.

>Deflector Shields on a ship are there to deflect larger matter that comes into contact with the ship
>And disintegrate smaller matter that comes into contact with a ship.
>Imagine the shields as a physical wall of energy around a spaceship made of unbreakable elastic.
>If this was not the case every piece of space debris would destroy a ship at these speeds, so that is the purpose of shields.
>The faster an object hits a shield the more likely it is to be deflected from the centre and disintegrated along the edges.
>I'm not entirely sure if this is correct, but I understand hyperspace to be travel beyond light speed as a reduction of the ships mass to sub particle levels
>Most things would be passed through except large , dense bodies like planets that would require an astro-navigation computer to avoid collisions.
>Impact of these would be disintegrated instantly given thier low mass.
>That is why they can not simply hyperspace ram the death star.
>Or hyperspace missiles, the timing would have to be calculated perfectly at post-light speeds to exit hyperspace at just the right moment, when enemy movement couldn't be observed from that distance.
>This requires the energy from the ship to support and sustain this energy field.
>If the energy required to deflect and/or disintegrate an object is greater than what the ship can output then the impact collapses the field
>This explains shielding percentages, this is the energy output capacity of a ship to sustain these fields.
>Each impact would drain power from a power supply, as more energy would be needed to reform the shield than sustain it.
>Holdo's ram should have caused the ship to disintegrate when colliding with the enemy shields.
>But the writers are too dumb to understand this, same way they don't understand audience perception.

Dogshit explanation, the old canon is simpler.

When a ship is in hyperspace, it cannot affect anything in the real world. But real world objects with mass, cast "shadows" on hyperspace, which can affect objects travelling from there, thus the need for complex calculations.

Two sentences. Simple. The entire Star Wars universe worked on this premise until Disney fucked it up.

No, because they can't help themselves and would have made the man a spy, which would have made sense . They did it with the man in the heist and then I would just go to one of the many other faults in the film.

>But why thou?
Something about objects with a large mass translating into big gravity wells on hyperspace. It's not science, they don't have to explain this shit to a highly accurate degree. What matters is that it's a consistent in-world explanation.
