same, trailers looked bad but was surprised by the end, a good 7/10.

it's just too much Gunn humor which I wish they could balance some serious moments with it, but this is just how Gunn movies are

I'm a notorious strict person when it comes to the 1-10 system and I agree with you. Solid/below middle 7, the plot has bad pacing and krypto gets too much screentime, but the characters and dialogue is pretty damn good.
Maybe there is a bit of recency bias, I'm sure part of me is giving it really high praise because this is the first time in a looonngg time since there has been a good superman movie.
S&L and MAWS were good, but as individual shows targeting more niche audiences couldn't nearly have as much impact as a full feature length film.
A lot of the gripes I have with the movie boil down to 'the REALLY good parts didn't last longer.'
I really wanted to see more of the kents, since the section with jonathan kent was amazing, and also I felt like clark was superman throughout the whole movie, we only really got to see him posing as clark for one scene. It would have been fun to see more of the classic superman adapting to the world with his secret identity. The scene between lois and clark while the big thing goes on in the bg was also really touching.

I really liked the world and the setting they are trying to build on.
Lex wasn't cringe like the previous one, and actually felt like Lex.
It's definitely bloated as fuck, and a lot of things like how the plot moved weren't all that great.

Just got back from watching it, had the same experience. Far from perfect, but there was none of the typical Gunn humor that makes me cringe, for the most part the jokes either land or don't get in the way. I feel in the past Gunn's humor could really make me roll my eyes. Either the script had a decent editor or he reigned it in. I feel Krypto's inclusion in the film is for little kids, because he lacks the a subplot of learning to obey superman.

Mr Terrific was Great. All of the supporting cast were, especially the voiced extras. The Kents were standouts. Jimmy Olsen was fun. I think Lex was a bit of a disappointment, only that some of the exchanges near the end was just him and superman stating their worldview to each other.

Hope it does well, but my theater didn't have too many people for an early weekend showing.

Again, those are movies and if you think they were good, then they are good movies. You are being pretentious, Superman doesn't need to be Citizen Kane, it isn't trying for that. It's TRYING to be a comic book, and if you think it succeeds at that then you think it is a good movie.

My brother wanted to go really badly so I went with my family. It wasn't the worst superhero movie I've ever seen; really high FOV for the fight scenes and a rotating/quickly moving camera constantly. I liked it despite it being occasionally disorienting. At least it was vaguely different from the usual capeslop, it was a good attempt at breaking out and distinguishing DC from Marvel. I like Gunn as a director/writer and he was a good choice to do it.

All the side characters in the Justice Force or whatever it was called were pretty funny, the dog didn't ring my bell but it got all the kids in the theater laughing every time it appeared. Lex Luthor was I AM ACTING tier when calm, but somehow became better when he was mad and throwing tantrums. I don't read Superman so I don't have any real reference for the characters, but I enjoyed it. It seems like Lex Luthor should be more masculine/competent, this guy mostly came off like a seething impotent dork like the last one. Maybe that's just Lex Luthor. Ultimately, there's no big payoff. It's like a long episode of a show or something, the post-credits was him just sitting on the moon with the dog and there's a little hook with Supergirl batting up for a spinoff at the end.

The broccoli-headed teenagers next to us saw we brought in food, passive aggressively whispered about it and then argued amongst themselves to send one of their number out to buy more concessions every twenty minutes. I would rewatch some of the fight scenes but not the whole movie. If you actually like superhero stuff then you'll probably like it, it isn't a flop like Blue Beetle or the rock one or anything. Solid flick.

>Mr Terrific was Great.
He was slightly above okay
>All of the supporting cast were, especially the voiced extras.
They were basically non-existent and the movie throws plenty of them at you at breakneck speed with one or two quip lines
>The Kents were standouts.
They got around 2 minutes of screen time, just to act like stereotypical hicks. >Jimmy Olsen was fun.
I agree. Find his gf a bit fucking weird, what was the deal with the mutant toes thing? It wasn't even remotely funny.
I think Lex was a bit of a disappointment, only that some of the exchanges near the end was just him and superman stating their worldview to each other.
It was so forced when that shit happened. The best thing Lex did was shoot the poo in the head, but he still wasn't intimidating after that, just slightly ridiculous. Don't know how they managed it but they took his over the top personality a bit too far over the top. The fighting game shit was kinda funny. Best part of the whole movie was telling Krypto to get the toy.

I almost liked the part when he asked to replay his parents at the end, but it fell flat when the Kents got zero screen time. Too far into the direction of mindless action for the sake of it, the plot was pants on head retarded.
>the 2 minutes of exposition while they calmly climb into the T-pod and draft the article to Perry, explaining it in turns

this is what I liked about it tbqh. For all the talk about how grounded MoS is, Costner and Lane just feels like actors larping as farmers, and all they fucking do is monologue about how Clark is the messiah or so important for the world. The Kents in this movie feel like actual hillbillies you'd expect to find running a small Kansas farm and they do simple parent shit like clean his superhero outfit for him or give him a short pep talk to make him feel better.

The humor wasnโ€™t funny, the action sequences were dull, Krpyto overstays his welcome, several characters like Perry White or the Kentโ€™s are barely in the movie past a lone scene. The ending โ€œIโ€™m a human too!โ€ Meant to inspire speech is downright amateur writing, it really did basically beg you to clap for it.

I honestly don't understand the weird rivalry between Snyder and Gunn fans. Snyder got a whole trilogy equivalent in length to LOTR and a bunch of spin-off movies too, but his fans are still mad that he didn't get to finish his absurdly over ambitious plan. Then Gunn fans feel the need to constantly bring up Snyder's films every second for no reason to uplift Gunn as if the movie can't stand on it's own. Then every thread about Superman devolves into these 2 types screaming and calling the others pajeets. It makes me wonder if either of these groups even read comics if the idea of different interpretations of characters is so foreign to them.

It's not like niggas in the ghetto actually go to the movies to pay attention to what's going on, they just wanna eat snacks, talk, and get handjobs in the back of the theater. The most they'd do is yell "AYO DIS NIGGA SLEEPIN BRUH HAHAHAHA"

liked it more than i expected to
the jor-el stuff was handled completely unsatisfactorily and only gets worse with the presence of supergirl
movie also doesn't know what to do with lois either, she stands in a dimensional hallway for five minutes, then later pilots the craft on a tour with no clear goal in the third act
audience didn't start getting into it until about halfway in, but it will be big with the normies
7/10 is fair

Gunn pretty obviously didn't know what to do with the regular people in this movie. It's why there's only 1 scene of Superman acting like Clark Kent, and why there's another 3 unrelated superheroes involved. That whole bit with Jimmy being an unsuspecting ladies man also feels like him trying to give the character something to do in this story of superpowered beings punching each other.

Don't bother with imax, even dual laser. See dolby cinema instead. It's the same aspect ratio the entire movie and never fills the 1.43:1 of true imax. If you must see it in its upconverted 3d then go dual laser imax.

There is a country in the middle east that is split into two (they give them names in the movie but I'll just call them what they are)

The obvious Israel stand-in who is working with Lex Luther to use his money to fight a war against the Palestine stand-in that is played as the underdog side and it isn't subtle at all.

There is a cringe scene in the third act where the Palestine stand-in country is getting invaded by the Israeli military and there is a kid there who makes a gay little superman logo on a flag that is supposed to look very scrappy and is holding it up to show how unfortunate the brown people have it XD

This film had basically nothing to do with immigration politics like everybody said. You can tell they didn't want to touch it too much, there's even a "both sides" joke where democrats and republicans both agree on hating Luthor. Lex Luthor himself calls Superman an immigrant a few times while trying to rally people against him or insult him, brown people are regularly present in the cast (astonishingly not Jimmy Olsen, who is indeed a redhead). It's not that pozzed. I want to fuck hawk girl.

Whatever point that could've been made about Superman being xenophobically rebuked by society for being an illegal alien (despite ostensibly being their greatest hope) is invalidated by the fact superman is a white guy, raised on US soil from near-birth and is a model immigrant who assimilated and all but discarded his original culture. He never even knew it. Kind of hard to draw parallels when our current immigrants are waving foreign flags in the street in mass protest and revving motorcycles at cops... which is why they didn't even try. All those journalists pre-emptively tried to kick up a political hive about this movie making superman literally paco, and then it's a tiny footnote and a joke or two. In retrospect it was probably planned buzz by warner bros to advertise the movie and youtuber retards ran with it being woke to work for them

I just got back from seeing it, I didn't like it much. Way too much plot for it's runtime, various characters were ill served, they changed Superman's origin for the worse and the Gunn humor was obnoxious. To go into more detail:
It felt like watching the theatrical cut of BvS down to the breathless editing, the sententious media talking heads, and the constant going on about the implications of Superman's actions. The reveal about Superman's message from his parents is played so weird, everything about it screams FAKE but then it's just real. None of the supporting characters had any depth because Gunn just turns them into plot devices or punchlines, and speaking of humor you can tell that Gunn was really pleased with himself over the Super-Harem thing because the joke gets repeated like 5 times. Corenswet and Brosnahan were fine but the whole romance angle isn't given enough time, also Corenswet only plays "Clark" for one scene, what a waste.

I didn't like it because it didn't even seem like they would have raised them, it's like they adopted him at 17 or something. You don't grow up with parents like that and turn into a man with morals like Superman, you end up as an obese forklift driver who spits tobacco into a dirty soda bottle every three minutes. Or maybe his alien genes made him utterly disinterested in bud lite and ESPN
