This was the creator completely running out of talent and not even being able to make a poignant line for the protagonists story to end.
Season 3 felt so anticlimatic i think he just had to hand in the script and wasnt able to handle ending the show properly.

watch how depraved and cruel everyone acts in the games
even gi-hun
he hunts down and kills a former ally
but humans can also be kind, like how the tranny was willing to go back and help her friends escape or how gi-hun sacrifices himself to save the baby
its a very cynical ending though, the games continue regardless and crueltity is depicted far, far more than kindness
