If all you get from Berserk is that “it’s edgy” you’re such a fucking low-iq moron that you should do us all a favor and off yourself now. Miura was a genius in his world building and narrative planning. The lore of the Berserk universe was incredibly consistent across 30 years of chapters.

It’s an incredible shame we won’t get to see Miura create the true conclusion or the final showdown between Guts and Griffith. We won’t ever really know why Guts had that behelit, or how he and Casca ended up. We don’t get to see what happens between Skull Knight and Void. So many questions unanswered.

Miura’s as close to Tolkien as the japs have ever gotten, if you can see past the incredibly superficial analysis of “it’s cool because it’s edgy”. The grimdark setting is there to really drive home how shit mankind has made the world, and contrast it with Griffith’s “utopian” city.
