Why is /tv/ handling his success so poorly?
>>212617070 (OP)Posted in the previous thread.
Midwit /tv/ faggots seethe because he proves one can deliver thoughtful cinema while still satisfying the masses. Midwits here think they're special for watching Tarkovsky or Godard and Nolan's existence throws a wrench into that idea.
>>212617070 (OP)For the same reason Hitchcock was hated by a certain segment of critics. He makes genre flicks that aim to be high brow cinema.
>>212617070 (OP)Because his shit uses cynical marketing tactics and once the hype dies his recent movies have 0 rewatch value.
>>212618215He doesnโt know. He just wanted to sound smart.
>>212617070 (OP)He gets win after win. Must be frustrating for contrarians.
>>212618215>>212618284Stop talking to yourself.
>>212618215NTA but definitely sci-fi, and I guess whatever capeshit counts as if it doesn't count as sci-fi.
>>212618347ugh...those sci-fi blockbusters like Dunkirk, Oppenheimer and Memento...
you are a retarded ape
>>212617070 (OP)They read Armond White too much.
>>212618390I didn't say they were literally all genre fiction. I didn't even make the original argument.
In fact, I don't care either way. Suck my cock faggot.
>>212618444If you talked to me this way irl I would've beat the shit out of you fag. You need some real hard slaps to learn some humility.
>>212618482Are you threatening me or flirting with me? Can you even tell the difference anymore?
>>212618215the genres he wants to explore, superhero genre, spy action genre, biopic/period piece genre, noir genre, steampunk genre (the prestige, kinda) and soon to be historical adventure.
>>212618597I'm threatening cave your skull in for being uppity faggot.
>>212618624Sounds like you'd rather cave my ass and mouth in.
You'd like that wouldn't you faggot? Nice and tight for your gay little dick and balls.
>>212618695Stop projecting your homo fantasies on others subhuman. Freaks like you should be skinned alive.
>>212618721I'm just reading between the lines. The lines being the border of the closet you're hiding in. Weird little faggot.
>>212618750Sure you do. People need to lynch you publicly before you assault the little boys in your neighbourhood.
>>212618832Is that what you did to your neighborhood boys? Is that why you're so ashamed of your faggot ass feelings?
This whole conversation is just you trying to work up the courage to lynch yourself isn't it?
>>212618687Yeah, well you're a brain-red gape.
>>212618902>N-no uHas the syphillis and aids rotted your brain so much that this is the best you can come up with? Diseased homo.
>>212619237>accuses me of saying 'no u'>by saying 'no you'I accused you of being gay first you silly faggot. Is the cum in you're throat making it harder to get oxygen into your brain? You should spit it out, or at least stop swallowing more.
>>212617070 (OP)It's been like five years since his last movie... outside of the million year old Bane meme, who's spending any time even thinking about this dude?
I shared an Uber Pool with Chris Nolan once. I jumped in and he was sitting in the middle seat by himself, at first I thought he was gonna shuffle over, but he just refused to move. He spread his legs out so that both knees were pointing directly at opposite windows, like seriously taking up an obnoxious amount of space. I wasn't fully sure it was him at first but he looked literally exactly like Christopher Nolan. The two of us sat in silence for about a minute or two with me just periodically glancing at him trying to work out if it was actually Nolan or not. He was definitely aware I was looking at him, but he never once did anything other than look dead ahead, straight out the windscreen. I eventually caved and said "are you Christopher Nolan?". He just smirked, again for a really obnoxious amount of time, and then said "never heard of him". At this point it was very obvious to me that this was in fact very likely Christopher Nolan, so I asked him why he was lying... that's when he finally turned his head to look at me. As soon as we made eye contact I knew it, unmistakably, certifiably this man in my Uber was Christopher Nolan. He puffed his cheeks out, like he was stifling the biggest laugh, until air started squeaking through his puckered lips like a balloon zipping around in a cartoon, and then finally said "lying shbying"...then he let out what I can only describe as a really angry looking silent laugh before letting his face settle into a sort of evil smirk. I was stunned. I didn't say anything at first.. but then I managed to say "sorry?"... "sorry shborry" he replied... I couldn't believe it. He was speaking absolute gibberish. But then I saw this little glimmer in his eye, and I realised that there was something about the way he put it all together... the silent laugh, the smug smile, the gibberish shibberish.. when I saw all the parts in motion I guess you could say I finally "got" Nolan. He's a director of the people people shbeople
>>212619398Yep. Syphillis and AIDs have definitely eaten away your brain. How about we throw your subhuman ass into the woodchipper and put you out of your misery?
>>212619727>ignoring your exposed hypocrisy just to make the same lame accusation and act violentOh so you're gay AND jewish. That's fucking depressing man, I'm sorry.
It must be rough only being able to get off through violent sexual encounters with other men.
That's probably why you identify with Nolan's movies so much though.
>>212617070 (OP)Oppenheimer and Interstellar are very good. The rest are ok to totally forgettable. Not looking forward to his next movie with Zenyatta and whoever the fuck else.
>>212619987How else should one treat a disease ridden, child molesting, uppity homo if not with brutal violence? I'm telling you fag. You deserve to be skinned alive.
>>212620061Dude stop taking poppers and talking to yourself in the mirror, you're freaking me the fuck out.
>>212617070 (OP)Oppie was dreadful, I stomached it for almost an hour then turned it off it was just that fucking boring and the characters detestable
Interstellar on the other hand is K I N O of the highest order, easily one of the best movies of the 2010s
>>212620077That's it cowardly bitch. Be afraid and know your place. Faggot.
>>212620173I'm serious dude, calm down or I'm gonna have to call the faggot police to deal with you.
>>212620438Try me cowardly faggot. You should be woodchipper fodder.
>>212617070 (OP)I just think he's a poor choice for the odyssey desu.
>>212619987>>212619727>>212618695>>212618721>>212618750I'm laughing so hard at this exchange. God damn it, /tv/.
>>212620550Killing me won't make you straight. Only alternating current electricity can do that.
>>212620993OTOH gouging your eyes out might give me immense satisfaction.
>>212617070 (OP)I love most of his work but even he made some bad films like Dunkirk and Tenet. Nolan is at his peak when his technical genius beats with an emotional heart. The above two leaned more on the former. TDKR despite its flaws and the laughable death scene was a decent conclusion, if only they had left Bruce's survival more ambiguous.
>>212617070 (OP)Post your top 3 Nolan films
The Prestige
Memento
Interstellar
he is a medicre director but a good trickster/illusionist
Just watch Prestige, basically all his other movies are like this (except prestige was really the only good one)
>>212621545this man is a fucking genius
>>212621545Fuck me, that's a midwit quote if real.
I explained this to my 6 yr old daughter, the image in the mirror has straight lines from every point on a circle in front of the mirror to the image reflected. Left and right aren't reversed, they're reflected.
>>212621545>when you look in a mirror left and right are inverted, but up and down stay the sameThat's a pretty solid paradox to meditate on. I can kind of physically reason why this is but I don't know if I'd ever be able to express it in words.
>>212617070 (OP)Dark Knight Rises and Dunkirk were shit.
The rest of his movies are based. Inception is overrated, but still pretty cool. Tenet rules, Intersteller is a modern classic, Opperheimer is normie filter the likes we've never seen before.
cry more chuds
>>212617070 (OP)The true answer is that from a while (roughly since the 2016 election really and since zoomers have infested the internet) /tv/ has attracted a certain demographic that is really, really insecure about their intelligence, and Nolan is a filmmaker who is at the same time really popular and perceived by the general public as one that makes "smart" movies.
So this demographic, again, who are generally losers and whose last claim to any self-esteem is their own intelligence (rightly or wrongly estimated anyway) feels the need to point out that the so-called "smart" filmmaker is not smarter than THEM. That they see through the courtain, that Nolan dazzles the midwits, but not them. Not them. Which they repeat several times until it forms something resembling an actual belief.
>>212621858Trolling? Or fucken thick?
>>212621765
>>212622157Like I said, I get the physical reasoning of it, but I was struggling to put it into words. The closest I could get was basically calling it effectively a footprint but for light. Yours obviously makes sense, but the way it's worded it still sounds awkward to me for some reason.
I dunno, maybe I'm just retarded.
>>212622369You're not retarded, you're thinking about a mirror in a somewhat mystic-ish way, which is not uncommon at all and is why magic mirrors are even a concept in legend and fiction.
>>212617070 (OP)He was cool to them while he was niche that they only knew. Inception and Dark Knight made him the biggest director on the planet, the only guy that can get asses into seats without a franchise or Tom Cruise hanging from a plane. Normies embraced him and the weirdos were left out to be contrarians.
