Depends on the 2nd weekend drop, if it's got legs (which is possible, good reviews are never a bad thing) it can still do quite well and avoid flop territory
That being said, I don't see it matching MoS, let alone beating it

this is something that's being witness across all movies rn. and no it's woke go broke, ALL movies, released right now are seeing only a fraction of the ticket sales compared to last decade
hardly something you can attribute to a singular director or producer or even a studio
if the movie industry wants to survive the next couple years then it needs to scale back hard on movie budgets

No quips. No reddit humor. No “DUDE WHAT THE HELL!”
Just scale. Mood. Mythology.
Snyder framed Superman like a religious figure burdened, alien, terrifying and beautiful. The whole thing played like a Terrence Malick fever dream shot through a NASA lens.
Superman in cuffs. Surrounded by military goons while being marched down a hallway like a war criminal. The most powerful being on Earth choosing to surrender.
You didn’t need Nathan Fillion in a bad wig explaining to the Audience what is happening on screen.
That image said everything, He’s not above us, He’s submitting to the fear of mankind because he wanted to be trusted.
That’s what Snyder understood, Superman isn’t interesting because he’s invincible. He was interesting because he choose restraint. Because trying to be good even when parts of the world feared and hated him was what made him Superman.

Then look at Gunn’s Superman.
Off-brand cosplay. Shitty MCU suit. Smirking like a retard constantly.
Cast looks like they were pulled straight from a Disney+ karaoke open mic night.
You the whole movie’s going full of ironic banter and “actually Superman is just like us :) that's why he acts like Starlord now"
They’re sanding off everything that made the character interesting AGAIN.

Man of Steel had weight. You felt the ground crack when he flew.
Gunn’s bounces around like a Funko Pop come to life.

We had Myth.
Now we get merch.

Nta and not even a snyder hater but the negative reviews absolutely hurt his film's box office. I think BvS was the most egregious one, Wonder Woman Joker and Aquaman all had good reviews and did as good or better than it. Which is insane because it came out in prime super hero popularity and was the most anticipated DC film ever.
That being said the current landscape in Hollywood is grim af, superhero fatigue might catch up to this film. It's hard to say, honestly.

Left wing souls are the color of shit!
Their hearts are as empty as a vacant pit!
They say they're tough but they always quit!
There might be a future but you're not in it!

Left wing pigs just can't get a win!
Their guts are twisted around their sin!
You can see Jewish shit between their teeth when they grin!
A charcoal briquette of demon din-din!

Left Wing Pigs just can't write well!
Every left-wing pig to ever die's in Hell!
They're losing all their shit--well that's just swell!
A nice empty wallet, how the mighty have fell!

Left Wing Pigs just can't make art!
They can only copy better men a'la cart!
The best they've got is a sparrow's fart!
They rip their unborn children apart!

We'll take their toys and we'll take their lives!
We'll burn down their cities and their hives!
We'll take their tens and we'll take their fives
Well take their land and we'll take their wives!

I’m only surprised that the subhuman Gunn didn’t make an even worse movie. They tried to keep open wokeness out of it, BUT since they had no choice but to cast Suerpman as an attractive white man, they made sure that he was as emasculated and weak as possible and still have him be the star of the movie. I’m very turned off by the use of young faggy-looking actors for most of the cast but that might be a positive for the zooms and alphas.

Ultimately though what it boils down to is the same thing that’s killing all recent films: the competency crisis has hollowed out the filmmaking industry of talented producers and they no longer have the ability to make good movies.

Man of steel failed to make a billion at the height of comic book movie popularity and back when ticket prices were alot cheaper too. Not only that but the superman/DC brand wasn't carrying alot of bad baggage prior to the man of steel release. In fact DC was riding high off of nolan's batman trilogy. But despite all of that it still couldn't crack 1 billion because it had terrible legs due to being a trash movie.

You know you're supporting my point right? MoS would have made more money today adjusted for inflation and ticket prices.

>Not only that but the superman/DC brand wasn't carrying alot of bad baggage prior to the man of steel release
Lol what? Superman Returns was hated when it came out. Superman IV was also shit. Superman was carrying a lot of baggage even back then.

Spiderman is a huge household name too and the movie had great reviews which equals great legs. Plus it brought back the two previous spiderman actors. Therefore making it a big event movie aja a must watch.

MoS box office adjusted for inflation is around 800 million. Still not even cracking 1 billion which again is embarrassing. MoS released at the absolute height of comic book movie popularity.

Yes superman returns was hated but look at the situation right now with DC. DC is in a far worse state in terms of reputation than it was back when man of steel released. Man of steel was riding on the popularity of nolan's dark knight trilogy. They even slapped nolan's name on the movie and still it couldn't crack a billion because it was trash and had poor legs as a result.

And superman 2025 will have great legs because of the great reviews which equals great WOM. This isn't rocket science, jeet lol.

Far from home released in the same year as end game. So it was riding high on the success of end game. This is absolute common sense lmao. Plus spiderman had much better legs than man of steel due to being a much better movie. MoS is trash.

Superman will make more. You are really underestimating how good its legs will be. It will make around 700 million domestic and 300 million overseas.

Joker released in 2019 which was still at the height of comic book movie popularity and DC wasnt nearly in bad of a state as it was prior to the release of superman. Plus joker is the most popular comic book villain of all time. Plus Aquaman made 1 billion the year prior and shazam was a critical success but was too unknown and didnt have enough marketing to be a financial success. And batman movies will always be popular especially if it has solid reviews.

Again it's making alot of its money domestically. Guaranteed to make 700 million. And solid WOM will help its overseas haul. 300 million OS guaranteed. F4 will be a critical and financial flop. The writing is on the wall. And the fantastic 4 is nowhere near a popular household name as superman. Keep coping.

There is no longterm at this day and age. The non-theatrical profits were already accounted for. Opening weekends are carefully monitored by studios because they deffine word of mouth and should give the movie a headstart. Neither will happen in this case because, say, 125 mil is a very mediocre start and the audience reaction is divisive/meh.There'll be no WOM to propel it forward

Yes, but this also has a bigger 3-day opening weekend domestically than either Dinoshit or The Batman. "A-" meaning the movie has a very poor ceiling isn't a universal truth. The first Venom got a B+, but cracked 850m. Logan also got an A- and iirc did pretty well but I'm too lazy to look it up right now. Then you have stuff like Thunderbolts, which got an A-, but had perfectly fine legs due to its good WOM. It only flopped because it had a terrible opening weekend since nobody was interested.

I have no clue if the movie will do well btw. Just pointing out that cinemascore is only one metric used with others. Superman is weird, because people seem to either love it or hate it, while most other A- Mahvel movies were just everyone agreeing it was mid. If you look at the audience reviews on RT for example, it's higher than any of those other A- mahvel movies.

Huh? I don't expect reactions to change. I just said they were polarized. They're already in. Will this movie have good legs? I have no clue, I'm not saying it will. I think box office tracking prediction is retarded garbage and is barely better than guessing desu. This movie is evidence enough of that. Why are gunnjeet/gunntranny shills bringing up the audience score? They do understand averages right? Man of Steel has 75% audience score with 250,000+ reviews. Superman has 94% audience score with 5000 reviews. No shit the people who want to watch and like this movie will rate it highly on the first day/few days. But it won't be able to hold out when stretched thin between 250,000 reviews. Especially with the shitty nauseous fishbowl visuals and horrible CGI, costumes etc. It'll end up below 75% (when the mass rewatch of Man of Steel for comparison begins), I'm predicting around 64% at a push, maybe 55% at the lowest. Although hey, I'm expecting basedlennials and redditors to still be gunn-ho for capeshit. Could be even lower.

>As for other opening week projections for Superman 2025 in the US, several studio insiders have been reportedly more conservative with their range of $90 million to $125 million. This is somewhat of an outlier, though, since the National Research Group (NRG) said in June that it would open with $135 million (specifically $125-145 million). On the flipside, Fantastic Four’s box office projections increased from its initial expectations, going from $125-$136 million to $125-$155 million.

Well not continuing with Superman and Batman, relying on Gal Gadot’s WW and fucking Zachary Levi. A competent exec would’ve gotten all the jazz surrounding the JL cast straightened out and prepped for the next movie. Zaslav saved us from Batgirl and 1930s black Clark Kent.

>a theatrical cut would've been less
And yeah, it would've been a different movie if you had to chop off a fucking hour so we have no idea how well it would've been received. Especially since a lot of ZSJL's positive reception ( which wasn't even that insane ) was because it looked better in comparison to the Josstice one. Like yeah if you force someone to eat shit then give them an overcooked steak they'll prefer the latter by comparison than if you just gave them the steak on its own.

It doesn't matter. All that matters is the name. And the Avengers are a brand that hasn't been tarnished in the eyes of the general public yet. There hasn't been a bad Avengers movie. Meanwhile, Superman, Batman, WW and the Justice League are tarnished beyond repair. Batman can barely pull it off simply by being extremly popular, but Superman and JL are damaged for a long time.

Affleck was going through the worst phase of his life, cheated on his wife with their babysitter, turned alcoholic and lost the spark to direct or even act as Batman. He was great both as batman and Bruce Wayne. I was surprised to see him come back to shoot more scenes for the Snyder Cut.

BvS and JL rushing is more of a WB fault than Snyder. They also wanted those films to be short despite having to introduce and develop multiple new characters. Baking a cake and eating it too doesn't happen that often. ZSJL and the Ultimate cut of BvS to a lesser degree worked because it gave more time to the characters.

Not even in terms of box office numbers but looking back at the DCEU as a story it would have been much more tonally cohesive. If they stayed the course with the original tone of BvS, Suicide Squad and Wonder Woman, it could have been a good franchise watch in 2025. As it is now, it's just a mess
>Justice League film that retroactively turns all the cast in to jokey caracatures
>Birds of Prey film involving Harley Quinn breaking up with the Joker and going on a crime spree in Gotham that doesn't involve Joker, Batman or Jim Gordon
>Shazam film in an established DCEU that doesn't involve Superman in a mentorship role aka that one Spiderman film
>Series of films that just don't fit in to the overarching narrative at all
>A Flash film which tries to set up multiverse in a weird way and doesn't really tie up or mention anything in either Justice League film
I suppose if you just watch MoS, BvS, Suicide Squad, Wonder Woman, ZSJL and Aquaman they all kind of fit together but all the other stuff is just a mess.

The fact that the Flash is set 4 years after Justice League and doesn't mention the world ending threats at all is just fucking strange.

It was an alternative to Marvel which was taking a more light-hearted approach. If they stuck to their plan it could have been cohesive. The course correction every 2 years is what fucked the DCEU.

I hope folks realise that Batman is the antagonist for 2/3rd of the film in BvS. As seen in at the end with Zuckerberg and in ZSJL he goes back to his no kill rule.

They released an extended cut which has 8 extra minutes and unironically makes it a much better film. Just little bits of connective tissue and character moments that were inexplicably cut. An Ayer cut would be an interesting watch as it looked more in line with BvS in its first trailer.

I think that the Batman DCEU arc was in full transition in BvS. Snyder wanted the characters to have decent character growth before ending up with the comic faithful characters by MoS2. JL3 sounds like it was going to be a hell of a film

This shit is especially funny given that MCU and even some DCEU movies, full of American heroes, did well there.
Hell, even Thunderbolts despite being a flop, did okay there while being way less known characters than Superman.
And of course they will be proved wrong when F4 will do okay there.

Who is the villain this time? Luthor? Again after 4 movie and tv series? Who cares.
