Armadillo was a very ballsy villain. Within his introduction, he brutally rapes a little girl for snitching on him and burns a drug dealer that Vic was actually pretty cool with and, IIRC, also kills his family. Shame he went out so unceremoniously. S2, besides the Money Train storyline, was a complete write off. It's in S3 where the show hits its stride and doesn't let up for three whole seasons until S6.

Looking back, the Money Train storyline was a little too contrived. They were better off just skimming drug dealers. but the show needed a tipping point. It should've eased into the money train a little more. It feels almost benign given they've robbed gangs and mobs before. Just the sum is the big difference.

Vic starts fucking up right after the pilot. The whole show he's constantly at risk of exposure. Dutch nearly snares him several times. As soon as he got away with killing Terry, he thought he could get away with anything. Combined with his love of the rush of it, of fucking up and then worming his way out of it, he was always doomed to go too far.

I love how he doesn't even realize at the end how fucked he is. He goes into the lady's office talking about how he can't wait to take someone down and she literally has to explain to him that it's over. Even during his confession he has the audacity to say "I was too good" with a big smirk on his face even as he sells his soul, fucks over everyone else, and his best friend just killed himself.

I really wish Armadillo stuck around more, I was disappointed at the time with when and how he died, but on rewatch and reflection it was a good way for him to go out, and the best kind of villains are the ones you want to see more of, not get sick of.

The song they play when Vic burns him is such a great one too.
