>The international numbers are terrible.

>Domestic is boring. Its not over performing or under performing in that market.

But, overseas...yikes. 250m International final total.

This movie tops out at 550 Mil Worldwide

Pathetic after all that hype

>Less than the marvels and the flash in china
Lol

Japan hates it because American streamers and modern American imperialism ruined their peaceful life

While it would be ridiculous to suggest that WB and David Zaslav are over the moon about this result, they would obviously want this movie to be a roaring success, I think they're satisfied overall.

The DC brand as a whole has been damaged to a point that you can't really expect a new Superman movie to hit a billion dollars, or anything close to that. It's going to take some time for them to heal the box-office.

The first and foremost goal for James Gunn and his Superman was to restore audience goodwill. And while that road is still going to be long as hell, I think they did as good of a job as they could for now.

The true test for James Gunn and the DC Universe moving forward is going to be the other projects that he has lined up.

And hey, at the very least, this movie did not flatline the way that Black Adam and The Flash did.

Can a foreigner explain why Superman is too American but Spiderman, who is beloved overseas, isn't?
He's literally from New York, his costume is red white and blue, the daily bugle is modeled after the NY Post (in the raimi movies anyways), the American flag scenes in the Raimi movies, the locations in the stories are mostly based off of real places in NYC, etc
Spiderman is only behind Captain America and Superman in Americaness

Peter Parker is an outcast hero, he has to fight against the system and criminals.
He is not defined by being from NYC, or his costume, he is defined by being the man that can beat all odds.

Superman stands for Truth, Justice and the American Way. Unfortunately the global public perception of the American Way is drone striking hospitals, cheering for genocide and starting wars everywhere.
Spider-Man is just some dude who believes in helping people. He's not for America or even with America, he just happens to be from America and living in America.

It wasn't so much the flopping that hurt them. It was the polarizing and ultimately negative reception. Which is why the DC has the stain on its reputation as it does now and the movies struggle to make money.
Although, if we're being honest, I think WB is lying themselves a bit. They hope that repairing the brand will be the thing that saves them. But look at other movies at the box office right now. Look at Marvel. Things are bad everywhere.

He isn't. To me this whole conversation just shows where most of the Gunnverse fanbase lies on the political spectrum. They were likely expecting Superman's performance to repudiate MoS and with it a grounded, gritty, high energy, "bro" take on capeshit. It's just the latest "battle" over who gets to be the target audience of male entertainment franchises.

The fuck are Gunn's DC movies then? Snyder's DC movies either made 700mi (back than) or near 1bi (BvS did around 900mi didn't?), those are really good numbers for an starting universe, alot more than MCU's starting movies. After Snyder's exite, DC barely hit 500mi (Aquaman, SS and WW were connected to his plans for the future JL movies).

>Keep seeing fanboys and retards that don't know how Box Office works 99.9% of the time cope about this movie not flopping

Either that or they're basing it off old information/hype from the previews/reviews

The hard reality is that due to the overseas box office being outright terrible Superman 2025 is going to struggle to even hit $625M and that's going on a best case scenario (Fantastic Four is outright mid or bad) and allows it more room to breath/get legs

There's multiple reasons for why this might be the case but sandwiching it inbetween 2 massive IP's the international audiences care about more certainly didn't help
I know Gunn had some faggy thing about it being his dead dad's birthday but that seemed like just a excuse to force the movie to stay in its slot instead of WB panicking and moving it (Which they should have done)

I mean, yeah, it's a superhero movie so it's not supposed to be realistical, but c'mon: there's no way in reality that a government would invade another country and start killing defenseless civilians that's way too evil.

Ok so beating MoS is looking like a pipedream. We need to surpass LittyGods first to claim victory

You jeets said the same exact thing before the review embargo lifted. You all are underestimating how great the legs will be for this movie.

Right. Man of Steel got $670 million and the reboot won't even tought that unadjusted for inflation kek. MoS also got more than half of the box office from overseas.

Spider-Man can notoriously represent everyone. Place him in any country and you'll still have the relatable tale of the human condition. Superman is just flat out unrelatable, born from another planet with existing godlike powers isn't as relatable as a down on his luck guy who although has godlike powers, has to worry about keeping his loved ones alive and struggling with issues of love, tragedy, doubt, etc.

It'd be fine if we started from the beginning and had Clark grow his powers over time. Maybe train with Martian Manhunter or something.

The only time he was ever remotely relatable was him being a teen in the 2000s in Smallville and as an allegory for autistic kids in Man of Steel. Even then the writers of Smallville admitted to basing Clark and his life off Spider-Man which is also why they got to write Spider-Man 2.
