>>212631873what is a Ramsey Campbell
>>212632023He's the best living horror writer. He's English.
>>212632039This book is absolute shit. Not just derivative crap but bad derivative crap and proof that derleth was senile in his later years for praising it.
>>212632588Campbell was only 16 when he was writing to Derleth. He later apologized for mindlessly aping Lovecraft.
>>212632629Yeah, I'll give him that and having read The Hungry Moon, that wasn't half bad so I'm willing tl assume he's matured as a novel writer.
>>212631277I also like how bright/sunny it is, like Tenebre.
>>212633170Who's your favourite horror writer going around? I'm looking for more recs.
Pic related is my favourite horror movie ATM, but I need to find better flicks and novels. I'm a horror writer but only a budding one.
>>212633257NTA but Stephen Graham Jones is great. Takes awhile to get into his "flow", he writes as if hes telling the story in a native peoples tradition, but when it clicks, its spellbinding

Bring Her Back was good but it was kind of a standard sad horror movie. Talk To Me worked better because they used their experience shooting action to give a fairly realistic depiction of dumbass teenagers/burnout 20somethings in their party culture phase which felt like it was taking place in the real world and how real people (or a specific kind of real person at least) would act. Bring Her Back I believe a deeply grieving mother would do almost anything but it just seems so ridiculous she would just get away with all the things she did and the police wouldn't have gotten called at several points.
>>212635840Yeah no that's a different one with a priest
>>212636091Are you Australian? Heaps of kids get raped in adoption here. That's what the Salvation Army did to kids: rape them and abuse them with impunity.
>>212636147I'm not saying there's no abuse in the system, but Andy not calling the cops was ridiculous even with the "yeah but they'll split us up" possible excuse. Also bringing just 1 60 year old social worker to a house where you think there's horrific things happening and not demanding to bring at least 1 cop too?
If it was a situation where he had no way of contacting help or was younger it would have made sense. Like her abusing Oliver makes sense because Oliver is like 10 and she has made functionally mute. Andy existing as a character ruins my suspension of disbelief.
>>212636077But skip season 4
>>212636091> Bring Her Back was good
>>212636373Yes, I think it had good acting, was shot well, had an interesting concept, good sound design. But the script fails in some parts.
>>212636373Lol yeah I stopped reading there too
>>212636296>Also bringing just 1 60 year old social worker to a house where you think there's horrific things happening and not demanding to bring at least 1 cop too?He was just out of hospital.
>>212636447and walked to a police station to talk to a social worker he wasn't even sure was working that day instead of telling any of the cops what was going on?
anyone here watched this?
>>212636484I understand that you probably have SWAT teams for a pizza gate scenario in your country, but Australia is different.
Have you ever filed a missing person's report? That's what Oli was already in. The cops don't go on a manhunt. They just put one detective on the case and it usually goes cold. If you haven't dealt with the cops here, you don't understand that they don't do anything.
>>212636601How is having 1 cop accompany the social worker the same as a swat team?

Watching Absurd because
>>212635840 reminded me it exists
>>212630925 (OP)>I've got to finish digging your grave
>>212636581I think a long time ago before Severin did a BD release. Only really remember it having a decent tangerine dream soundtrack
>>212633257How different is this from the original?
>>212624164Yeah you can really tell science fiction used to actually have the science part. I get why but it's changed, but it's basically magic now.
>>212630925 (OP)Just watched this, it was okay. 6/10 maybe. They didn't detail the monster's origins which is kinda retarded, and it's dangerously close to being "trauma is the real monster" slop but there really was a tangible spook demon. Apparently picked up overseas so I'm thinking whores in Thailand. BUT the part that redeems the movie is the absolute sexo combo of the mother and daughter. I want to be in that sandwich. Pure oyakodon. God they're both so fucking hot, it's peak goonercore. There was even an unrelated butterface cat lady with nice tits and ass for how ugly she was. I would her too. Holy shit. Would goon again.
>>212640066Well, a lot of the nuclear shit of the era is just like magic too, because it wasn't fully understood but there are a lot of characters who are there to be the scientific skeptic or technician who explains things and it's like you can feel the fear of the script writer that the studio test audience might be scientifically literate and whatever the 1940s equivalent of a Wikipedia editor was
>>212636091>Bring Her Back I believe a deeply grieving mother would do almost anythingThe most retarded part of the movie is that she DIDN'T do it despite spending the whole movie preparing to do it. Having some sudden change of heart at the last minute was so stupid. Pointless movie.
>>212640302kek. Yeah it kind of feels like a high school science lesson.
