I loved the alien design. Truly otherworldly while still seeming like a real animal.

I didn't like it. All the characters were cartoonish and I was expected to believe some veneer of "deepness" in the movie? None of the character were likable or relatable and nothing about the plot hit home.

nah it wasn't. it wasn't bad. but Bong was trying to juggle like 3 or 4 different themes, and the result is none of them were explored very deeply so the movie feels pretty shallow. especially in the third act when it becomes goofy human-alien action set-piece poorly disguising a banal metaphor for colonization

I don't think that environment would have beasts with no fur and bare skin.

Too cartoonish and you can tell it came from an Asian man.

There are a million reasons to dislike this movie but you people always have the most brain dead takes.

Korean cinema has been shit since about 2010.
Once they finished their little pubescent phase of ripping off american crime dramas during the 2000's, they've produced almost nothing noteworthy outside a couple of accidental hits like Parasite.
And their TV is all utterly derivative of japanese stuff from 20 years ago, except with an added shiny layer of modern production, and rewritten to appeal to middle aged women.

It had potential but it felt disjointed and felt cliche by the end.

Agree, it was a fun sci-fi movie even if it didn't meet Bong level expectations.

It was entertaining, once I accepted there wasn't gonna be any real depth to the scifi and just watched it as sort of an action comedy it was pretty satisfying.

A good return to form after the Mickey 16 disaster, but doesn't really come close to Mickey 8 or Mickey 14: part two in my opinion.
